Use multiple monitors even if you are using SLI or CrossFire.

[H]ard|OCP just posted a review for Matrox's TripleHead2Go Digital Edition device. They tested it with 2 8800 GTXs in SLI, a 8800 Ultra, a 8800 GTS 640MB and the HD 2900 XT. The maximum resolution is 3840x1024 which is three 1280x1024 monitors lined up. This product is pricey ($329) but for those that already have some kick ass PC gear and want the Surround Gaming experience it may be worth it. Check out the article, it has some groovy 3840x1024 screenshots for your enjoyment.

Cool ... I wonder how do the cards hold up at a resolution like that , since they didn't specifiy any exact performance numbers . I suppose the HD 2900 XT didn't do too well with only 512MB of video memory .
I thought they'd use LCD monitors though .

They tested with LCDs but Brent did not have three 1280x1024 LCDs to use together. The AVERAGE (not maximum not minimum) FPS they look for are normally 45 or more for FPS but lower for other game types like the Sims. You can be assured that the game will play at a nice frame rate with the settings on the cards they listed, as long as the rest of your sytem does not suck.

I suppose my X1600 Pro would get /- 1 FPS , if it supported a resolution higher than 2560x1600 .
Damn , I thought they were looking for 30 FPS to be honest .
