The HD 5550 nearly slipped by.

Somehow the Radeon HD 5550 escaped my unblinking gaze (it pierces flesh!) but I have now added it to our database. We got 6 of them linked to Newegg so far but make sure to check the memory type before you buy. The card can come with DDR2, GDDR3 or GDDR5 so make sure you grab the one you want. According to the very few reviews that I found, the HD 5550 is slower than the GT 240 and HD 5570 but faster than the HD 5450. Shocking right?!

The PowerColor with DDR3 is a great little card, dang if it was low-profile it would be awesome for slim-line and 200W or better machines. The P-C is on par or might better a 4650 DDR3 and those were good low power cards. Consider most had the 4650 straddled with DDR2, though with DDR3 performance is comparable to a 7950 GTO or nearly like a HD 3850 256Mb, that's nice with a 200W PSU. Then if you have a decent PSU Pure Overclock clocked got it 23% higher than stock, while the memory had a respectable increase of about 13%... astounding. Right now the P-C 5550 is $53 with rebate of $20. Are there cards that cost the same and give more performance sure, but not with a TDP of 38W... this is my new card to watch. http://www.pureoverclock.com/review.php?id=984&page=1
