The HD 2400 & HD 2600 series is now

The mid-range cards from ATI/AMD are finally here. According to this reference HD 2600 XT and HD 2600 Pro review from ExtremeTech the price points for these cards will be:

  • HD 2600 XT: $119–$149
  • HD 2600 Pro: $89–$99
  • HD 2400 XT: $75–$85
  • HD 2400 Pro: $50–$55

I do not see any of these cards at Newegg yet, but I have a hunch that they may appear later today. I should also let you know that I have changed the release dates of the HD 2400 and HD 2600 series from 6-30 to 6-28, which means you can now rate these cards using our star rating system.

I will be adding reviews and cards as I find them today, and if I find sites that are selling them, I will link them here for you.

Guru3D has their own review up and they have a more detailed pricing list:

  • HD 2600 XT Gemini (CrossFire on 1 card): $189–$249
  • HD 2600 XT GDDR4: $149
  • HD 2600 XT GDDR3: $129
  • HD 2600 Pro: $89–$99
  • HD 2400 XT: $79–$89
  • HD 2400 Pro: $59–$69

As per the Guru3D review the 2600XT wont even be faster then a 8600GT Defenetly buying a 8600GTS now that I see how the 2600XT performs.

Performance looks lackluster at best. And the pricing, though pretty cheap, is not cheap enough to convince me to recommend any of these cards over their competition from nVidia. I actually thought ATi would capitalize here since nVidia kinda did a crappy job with the 8600s, but nope.

So much for the mainstream cards saving ATI .
Kinda reminds me of what happened when nVidia introduced the FX series... all the cards sucked .
Right now , the only card , that can actually compete with it's nvidia counterpart is the HD 2900 XT .
I was expecting more performance from the HD 2000 cards ... but no .
I guess , if I'm getting a new PC , I'm going to have to wait for the next generation of cards to come out .
The HD 2600 XT looked good to me at first ... but it could barely could compete with the GT , if even that .
I wonder how it'll perform in DX10 . ( Crysis & Bioshock )

Eric -- Why buy a 8600 GTS when you can get mush better DX9 performance for LESS MONEY? No one can know how any of the current DX10 cards will *really* perform in... well, DX10 applications!

Well im gonna wait till the end of the year to buy a new card so ill have enough time to think it over but sofar i dont like the new ati midrange. Best thing for me to do would be to buy a 8800gts but thats not a possibility for me because I can only fit single slot graphic cards in my system so yea.

Hmm... perhaps it's the same thing as with the HD 2900 XT... crappy drivers at first. Perhaps new drivers will make some difference... but with such a low number of ROPs and texture units , it can't get you much performance anyway .
