The GeForce 8800 Ultra punches you in the face, and you like it.

Not only do I have a press release to link, but Nvidia has a podcast out featuring info on the new 8800 Ultra. I am listening it to as I type this. Sounds like 100% Nvidia propaganda to me. OMG! They just told me how much the MSRP is. Eight hundred and twenty nine dollars. I am a shocked! Well I am going to be spending the rest of the day (and probably tomorrow) adding all the new cards and reviews to our database. While I am doing that, you should consider selling your body for sex so that you can afford this new card.

Why the hell would I want to sell myself? Go get a job damn!
This card is way to expensive, I am going with the 8600 GTS.

The cooler is made of 24 karat gold and the PCB is encrusted with gems...at least it should be. So is this just a heavily overclocked GTX with a nice cooler or a tweaked core? Either way I doubt theres any headroom left to push it further. More of a showpiece then anything else.

I wonder if they were planning on dropping the price in anticipation of R600, but then realized they didn't need to. Seems like an odd launch.

Way too overpriced...
for just an overclocked previously released G80 GPU...

I'm somewhat expecting a new technology by these time...

I love my 8800GTX but I think it will be funny after a few years when they start making these graphic cards smaller. Anyone remember Soundblaster Awe32?

Lol... this is like 300 dollars more expensive than a damn GTX . How much faster ( in performance , not clock speeds ) is it ?

I think there's a motherboard in the picture. Dang, those cards are huge! They can block out the sun! :)

I remembered one article, that Nvidia is planning to remake G80 from 90nm to 80nm, that will somewhat shrink the GPU a bit and make it more managable in size and power consumption. But I guess it will again cost a lot of money in development...

For $830, it should be an entire self-contained computer. Not just a single barely-top-of-the-line component. That's just obscene.

Damn it! ATI needs to get off their asses and release the 2900XTX so nVidia has competition. Only then will prices come down. As it stands now, nVidia has a virtual monopoly on the high-end GPU market. BAD, BAD, BAD!

Well, the folks over at Anandtech say the Ultra has a some headroom, getting the core up to 684mhz stable and able to go higher with better cooling. News around the web is the Ultra is pretty much the same as the Evga GTX ACS3, the point around that price is moot when you can get the same thing 200 bucks cheaper. I'm guessing this is just a market launch to say they have a "new" product for their shareholders since the 8800 has been out for quite some time already.

These cards are overclocked 8800 GTX with better cooling ( I think , otherwise they'd just melt with 2.16 ghz with GDDR3 ) . It's the cooling that makes these cards look bigger .

Alright, so its a "prestige" item. Its still a scam. They are selling u a product that isnt better than the GTX for 300$ more. And that wouldnt bother me, except for the fact that i wanted to have "the best", and now nVidia are telling me "u cant have the best unless u let us rape u with this goddamn price". To appease Mike: YES, i get the fact that u have to have advancements and the 8800 GTX isnt ALWAYS going to be the best card.. but the Ultra is needlessly expensive and its NOT better than the GTX.. so all that ppl who are buying it will get is a name, and a good straight kick if i ever see them.
