WHOA! Weird this card is LITERALLY half of a 5870, freaky! So 2 of these in X-fire should perform very similar.

...Didn't notice that. I'd still assume a performance hit from crossfire and the 128 bit bus at higher resolutions though.

Looks like the 5750 is half of the 5850 at 25mhz less core... interesting. I could speculate on that, but I won't yet.

would anyone bother buying this card? im kinda thinking of it...

I'm pretty new to video cards and could use some educated facts and opinions on a question I have. I understand that the higher the number the better the card (essentially). I understand that clock speed and memory size/type hold a lot of weight in video cards, but how much weight does memory interface carry? I ask b/c this card, the the (HD 5770) only has a 156-bit interface but a lower rated card such as the HD 4860 has a 256-bit interface. How do these two cards compare? Is there some kind of mathematical formula one can use to add up the clock speed, memory size/type/interface to see what a card can do before buying it?

2 of these cards in crossfire is basically equal (sometimes better!) than a single 5970 in performance

at a SIGNIFICANTLY lower price :D

@ Flinchy

You are referring to the 5870 right?

@Clarktastic: Basically, you can SORT of get an estimate of a card's THEORETICAL performance. I had a long explanation of the theory behind this written up but accidentally closed the browser tab.

This is REALLY simplified...

Buswidth x Memory Clock = Memory bandwidth

# stream processors x shader clock = raw computational power

You're much more likely to get a well thought out response and solid discussion by posting in the forums. Seriously, please do, we enjoy a good discussion about this stuff.

Thanks -RK, I really appreciate your help.. I'll post to the Forums next time too.

So I just bought an HD 5770 and for me "a n00b" It is pretty amazing. I couldn't be happier (for now) My WEI graphics scores in Win7 are at 7.4 and 7.4 and my 3D mark score is P10119 with a 9736 GPU score at about 30FPS and I mostly only play "Call of Duty 2" at my monitors max resolution of 1600x900 with all of the advanced video settings maxed out.
Thursday, June 03, 2010 7:41:54 PM
Yes @Clarktastic you'r right. I buy this also and this is realy awesome GPU. I'm able to play games like a Crysis Warhead, STALKER - CoP, Far Cry 2 in 1920-1080 with all max. GTA 4 i don't have try...For me this is a best price/performance card...

Also i have result like you @Clarktastic in:
-3D Mark Vantege: P:10526, GPU:9922 and CPU:11885
-3DMark06: 15841, SM2 Score:6325, HDR/SM2 Score:7414 and CPU Score:4401

On CPU i5 750 and with 2gb DDR3

I'm looking to compliment this card with an i5 750 CPU heard nothing but good reviews on it.. best bang for buck apparently..
Will report back once i've had a play.

Im lookingto bu a video card but im not sure which one would run games better. It's between an ATI Radeon HD 5770 or an Nvidia GeForce GT 220. They areboth 1G. Any help?
Friday, July 16, 2010 11:05:03 AM
Steve
The Progenitor
@jizones The HD 5770 is much faster. Those two cards are not even in the same class. The GT 220 should not be purchased by anyone looking to play PC games.

ok thnx a bunch for the input.

hi there
Can u help me with a game
Thats Mafia 2
I want to buy a 5770 to play it
And it seems Its enough for playing it on high quality
But my friends suggest me to buy a Gtx 460 1 gb
Which is better to play it?
Friday, August 20, 2010 12:32:36 AM
is hd 5770 is better than gts 250??
Wednesday, August 25, 2010 12:13:20 PM
I have the choice bettween an ATI HD 5570 2G and a ATI HD 5770 Which would you choose for multitasking and graphics/photos?
Tuesday, September 14, 2010 9:30:38 PM
i had a gts250 once, and buying a MSi 5770 HAWK version..i think gts is much better at performance...thats why Nvidia built for...but 5770, since it is newer...its much cooler, quieter, lower power consumption....u can easily overclock it at gts 250 performing...
Saturday, October 16, 2010 2:20:42 AM
This card will outperform a GTS250 at stock. A GTX460 1GB however while more expensive is in a different league and would crush a 5770. The 5570 is not a gaming card no matter how much memory it has.

Actually alot of people still unfortunately pay attention only to "how many megabytes" a card has, meaning the size of the framebuffer, but this is not nearly as important as GPU performance and memory bandwidth.

All that said I wouldn't buy this card right now - I would wait instead for the 6770.
Monday, January 24, 2011 8:24:26 PM
i'm looking for a card that will support more than two monitors. will the 5770 fit the bill
Monday, February 21, 2011 10:51:14 AM
just picked up a 5770 to upgrade my older 3870... Its quieter, cooler, and all my games are now maxed out without any lag... and I loved my 3870, ran better than my Nvidia 9600GT for whatever reason... The AMD/ATI Radeon 5770 rocks without sucking the life out of my power supply. :)
Wednesday, February 23, 2011 8:52:56 AM
hello there
I need opinions about this card
can this card run crysis and metro2033 in smooth performance or I will need a better thing like 6850 or GTX460
Tuesday, June 12, 2012 3:50:36 PM
COOL GFX CARD FROM ATI THIS GFX CARD SUPPORT DIRECTX 11 WHICH MEANS IT SUPPORT SHADER MODEL 5.0 AWESOME GFX CARD WITH AWESOME PERFORMANCE

I have had no luck getting the ATI Radeon HD 5770 installed in my Mac Pro 3,1 running 10.6.8 to support three monitors.
