Radeon HD 2900 XT with 1GB of GDDR4 may be here soon!

TweakTown is pretty certain that we will see a new HD 2900 XT card in June. This card is supposed to have 1GB of GDDR4 memory and will be under 10 inches long. In a [H]ard|Forum thread on this subject, [H]ard|OCP Video Card Editor Brent Justice said:

"I am 90% sure they will kick out a 1 GB GDDR4 version. I am also 90% sure that version will not have much of a frequency increase, if at all. It may simply be a 2900 XT with 1 GB of RAM, which would not improve performance in games. Think 256 MB 9800 Pro.

We will see though, GDDR4 would help bring the power utilization and heat down very slightly, but I don't know if it would be by any noticeable measure."

Yeah but will they fix the damn card? Seriously it sucks more memory aint gonna help you in most games, Only thing its gonna do is boost sales a little bit to the retards who think memory size equals performance.(My 8800gts with 640mb kicks my neighbor's HD 2900 xt in some games, And loses in others, He always says it's cause i have more memory when i win, But when he wins he attributes it ATI being better overall) On a side note the R600 has 256 shaders if you were to count them like Nvidia does.

R600 has 160 stream processors if you were to count those like nvidia does. Anyway, if it was 65nm, GDDR4 and 1GB, they could OC the hell out of this card. But apparently the R600 cards aren't going to beat the G80 cards. I'm putting my money on the R700.

Also , if they are putting out a 1 gig GDDR4 version , thats what the XTX was supposed to be . I certainly hope they will clock the XTX a lot higher and/or use 65nm process .
