R600 Speculation At The Inquirer

Now that G80's launch has come and gone, it's time to start speculating about ATi's next architecture: R600. The Inquirer has some interesting rumors posted on their front page today. Personally, I'll be surprised if R600 launches with a 512bit memory interface.

OH GREAT!! I just bought these damned 8800 gtx's for SLI now I have to go out and sell them in January to get the R600! Just bought an x6800 a few weeks ago and it's already obsolete with this QX6700 quad core thing. I give up :/

My theory is that we will see this coming out in 3 months at 650$, while the 8800 GTX will cost 500$ at that point due to the release of the 8900 GTX (an 80nm 8800 GTX), wich would be released in order to compete with the X2800XT. So then that means that the X2900XT would be unbeatable. You start better, u finish better.

I think that's a bit short sighted to say the least. From what I understand, nVidia's architecture and ATi's architecture are very very different this time around. We're going to need to see some real dx10 apps running before we can pass judgement.

I agree with Mike, My new 8800gts is nice but dang i cant tell the difference really from my old gpu when i set everything on high, Some reason my friend has better luck with his it actually looks better on his pc then mine and I got 2gigs ram and a core 2 e6400 while hes got an e6300 with only a gig of ram. He got an lcd while i still have my crt could that be the reason?

A CRT is like a Video Cassete, and an LCD is like a CD - not quite as good yet.

Will this new generation of ATi graphic cards support Fast Writes? Because according to the person who makes the ATi Omega Drivers says they don't and having it on causes a lot of game crashes. Which appears to be true on my X800. Same question goes for the X1950PRO AGP.
