Official Unreal Tournament 3 system requirements are here, and odd.

Stolen directly from the headlines of one of my favorite gaming sites, (Kotaku) I give you the official and very weird system requirements for Unreal Tournament 3:

Minimum System Requirements
• Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista
• 2.0+ GHZ Single Core Processor
• 512 Mbytes of System RAM
• NVIDIA 6200+ or ATI Radeon 9600+ Video Card
• 8 GB of Free Hard Drive Space

Recommended System Requirements
• 2.4+ GHZ Dual Core Processor
• 1 GBytes of System RAM
• NVIDIA 7800GTX+ or ATI x1300+ Video Card
• 8 GB of Free Hard Drive Space

Notice how the recommended system does not list an operating system. Apparently you don't need one! I'm kidding, I am sure it was just a mistake. What I really find strange is that they are suggesting a Nvidia 7800 GTX or higher or an ATI X1300 or higher video card. Since when are those two cards even remotely comparable? The game is a Nvidia TWIMTBP (The Way It's Meant to be Played) game and yet they are telling you that lowly X1300 is just as good as a 7800 GTX. Seems to me like it should be the other way around. I think they should have recommended at least a X1650 XT or maybe even something from the X1800s. What do you guys think?

It would have been nice of them to include the system requirements necessary for running the game in DirectX 10 mode as well. For those people who are not as knowledgeable as us.

This is what happens when an intern is assigned to post the software requirements. ;)

I suppose it was meant to be a X1800 card , not a X1300 card .
Anyway , the requirements sound great ... hell , even I will be able to run it :P .

Guys there were three more comments that I meant to approve, but I pressed the wrong button (and then I even confirmed when I should not have) and deleted them. I am very sorry. Please re-write those comments if you can remember them.

I wonder if it's THE GeForce 6200 or the GeForce 6200a the one from minimum requirements.

Well a 3 looks similar to an 8. Add to that the rough scrawl of some people's handwriting, and you have a recipe for misquote. However it happened, it is sure to start a flamewar somewhere on the internets. Also there is no OS listed for "Recommended" because it will run on WinXp/WinVista/OSX/Linux

A simple explaination, low-end ATi card can run a high-end game, like F.E.A.R , the minimum is Radeon 9000, while nVidia is FX5700 or higher, so ATi is good

@ Cross-platform: Maybe they're not allowed by Microsoft to turn attention to that fact. o_O

A Radeon 9000 has no chance of getting stable FPS in DX9 in F.E.A.R. . And F.E.A.R. isn't that demanding , I could run it close to max on my X1600 Pro ( no AA though ) . I'm 100% sure that the X1300 card is not meant to be on the recommended requirements there . It just doesn't make any sense .

@Evil Incarnate, I'm just saying that Windows isn't listed under "Recommended" because it would infer superiority. It was probably a case of all or none. Anyway, I'll be interested to see if these system requirements are the ones printed on the case ;)

Somebody put the minimum requirements of Crysis to GeForce 6800 GT / Radeon 9800 Pro . I guess it's the same joker who put these requirements up :P .

x1300 wow exxxxxxtreme AMD/ATI optimization lol(j/k).
Seriously they should change the 2.4ghz dual core processor recommended into something more specific for Athlon X2 2400 /Core 2 Duo E2140(lowest C2D I know of)/Pentium D 2.4ghz as it might mislead people to think they need a 2.4 ghz X2 4800 or even 2.4 ghz E6600 as I've already seen people confused on the low clock speeds of new proccessors and also a separate vista requirement as in 1.5 gbs of RAM.

They guarantee on that it'll run it on that hardware , however they don't say how good it will . But it will run .

If the x1300 was a mistake they surely would have changed it by now so we can only presume that it is correct.
