OCZ is making graphics cards again, starts with a 8800 GTX!

When I read this news my jaw hit the floor and I tripped over it and fell into a bucket of surprise. OCZ is back to the world of graphics card manufacturing according to their press release. And they even have the page up for their 8800 GTX which makes us here at GPUReview very happy. They do list all the information that we look for when we are entering graphics cards into the database, but it could be organized a bit better. On the other hand, OCZ does get mega bonus points for providing 4 different pics of the card and 1 pic of the box it comes in! I hope they do that for all their graphics cards.

What do u mean "back to the world of graphics card manufacturing"? I thought OCZ was just starting to make GPU, and therfore their GPUs would suck, because up until now they just made the memory. Also, according to an article OCZ encourages potential buyers to overclock their cards, wich ontop of the belief that they make crappy cards is quite funny.

I got the returning thing from [H]ard|OCP. "OCZ Technology Group today announced their exciting return to the world of graphics cards." I guess OCZ used to make graphics cards along time ago...

Wikipedia has the answer!

"A few years ago OCZ had a GeForce 3-series graphics card lineup but they backed out off this market in 2001."

@Track It's really not all that hard to just show up and start making video cards. nVidia and ATi give you the chip and the board design, and all you have to do is make it. And with the 8800s I think they're all being made by the same manufacturer and just being rebranded by msi, asus, etc. So OCZ's cards should be just as good as anyone else's. The only question is, how good will their customer service be?
