It was the first DX9.0c compliant videocard from nVidia. It gave to nVidia the hope that they can deliver good products and performance after the loss of faith of their users with the GeForce FX Fiasco. It offered great performance and was slighly behind ATi in terms of performance, also offered HDR which is in wide use today, even though it was barely usable on this card.
