nVidia Launches The GeForce 8800 GTX and GTS

nVidia's latest brings everything we wanted to the table and then some. Nearly double the performance of an X1950 XTX with Anti-Aliasing modes and 16X Anisotropic filtering that is *by default* noticeably better than ATi's high quality AF setting. This is hard launch and cards should be available starting today, though there's no telling how long they will remain in stock.

The specifications of these new cards are very different from any card we've ever seen before, so I encourage everyone not to read too deeply into the specifications we currently have listed for them, and instead read the full-length reviews and look at real-world benchmarks as they become available.

We'll be keeping track of reviews and retail cards as they appear and we'll be posting them to their respective card pages. Check back often, there will be new information coming in all day.

These cards seem to perform pretty similarly in current games for some reason..

The 8800 GTX and the 8800 GTS beat the heck out of Quad-SLI even in F.E.A.R! (wich is the only game that it runs well) while costing less than half of the price.

My GPU isnt the problem, its my CPU. Its a major bottleneck (or so i think..) for the 8800 series. Its NOT a bottleneck for the X1950XTX, but the 8800 cards are twice as good, so my CPU would definitely become a bottleneck.

@ Seth: Dont idolize these things. If u want a GPU, go out and get it.. its not that big of a deal so dont turn it into one. Enjoy!

I can't wait to try my PC with P4 3GHz HT, 1.5GB DDR RAM and GeForce 6800 Series lol.
I'm not gunna be able to try out this kind of stuff for years until I make some money of my own, so I'm not even gunna look at these things seeing how awesome it is and stuff.
Although, it is... inevitable. :P

@ Damage: Same advice. If u dont have money, find a way to get it. Its not expensive, u can even steal it from a company.

Dang Track, what do you do for a living? Rob Banks? Ha Ha Ha Ha!!

J/K - For those of us who aren't able to spend that much money, I guess we shouldn't just "go out and get it"

We'll just have to wait for the price to come down - which will probably be when ATI launches their cards. Besides, I'm not so sure I want to invest in the first generation of DX10 cards. I might wait around until the 8900GTX cards come out or something. That way they can fine tune these babies!

Sorry, I meant to include this in my last comment - For those of you who have purchased one of these cards, what kind of powersupply do you have? I'm looking at purchasing a Toughpower 750watt PSU, but I'm not sure if that's overkill. I want to get a powersupply that will last me through the next couple of generations of gfx cards.

I wasnt serious. It just makes me mad looking at all these ppl wanting something SOO much and not being able to have it!!
I would reccomend a 700w PSU, regardless of nVidia/ATI's issuing of a seperate PSU for the GPU.

I agree with David. Track, you give people the impression that you're really a 14 year old with an internet connection with some of the comments you make. ;)
