Nvidia is apparently going to bury us in new video cards on April 17th.

There are reports out there suggesting that Nvidia will be launching about 6 new 8000 series video cards on April 17th. Apparently some of these video cards (or maybe all 6) will be hard launched on that day. NGOHQ.com tells us that the 8300 GS, 8400 GS, 8500 GT, 8600 GT, 8600 GTS and the 8800 Ultra will all be "released" on the same day. They go on to spread hope to the AGP faithful by saying that Nvidia will be launching AGP versions of the 7900 GS and and 7950 GT soon as well.

X-bit labs also has a few things to say on this subject.

From the X-bit lab report:
"Some Nvidia%u2019s partners are also claimed to have promised to introduce an AGP version of the GeForce 7900 GS and GeForce 7950 GT solutions. In other words, XFX will no longer be the only Nvidia partner to offer graphics cards like that."

I'm sure that angers the PCIe only crowd and furthers the conspiracy theories. :0

These cards (excluding the 8800 Ultra, of course) will release with the highest price point being around $200; the X1950XT will absolutely destroy any single one of these in in-game performance. Period.

But the 8800 is still the best card in the world.

I have seen this same info on a couple of other forums and blogs - they also indicate that the 7xxx Family will be EOL by April 28th. This does not seem to make much sense if there are board makers that are making AGP versions of the 7900 and 7950 GPUs. Has anyone heard anything specific about future 7xxx GPU availability?

Let's hope that this flood of cards comes with a better Vista driver as well....

However, Nvidia and its partners can easily flood the market with cards of all flavors and price points.

Yeah, why do they keep releasing cards for AGP?, I don't understand!
Why not push forward PCI-E when PCI-E 2.0 will be backwards compatible?

now there will be...6? 7? one must do his or her homework pretty badly in order to get best bang for the buck with so many new faces on the market.unles the manufacturers stick with the 8600gs.gt etc specs and dont cop out and put lower bandwith or some crap like that on them, hard decision times are approaching...

i dont think 8800 drop to $400, 200 dlls is to much, the 7950cx2 just drop $100 when 8800 show

Here is what I don't get. The main advantage in having an 8800 Graphics card is the DX10 gaming performance. So why in the hell would anyone even attempt to get anything below an 8600. Those cards wouldn't be able to run any DX10 games well at all.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....well it looks like I'll be playing the waiting game then

Well, a price drop at all is still viable, as it will allow for even more stolen customers for ATI, imo. I'll be one of them within a few weeks if ATI still refuses to say anything.

Seeing some rumbling on the web that the new line may slip a bit due to respin of the G84 and G86 -- Anyone see or hear anything credible on this front?
