Nvidia distributes some GF100 information.

According to the information Nvidia released, Fermi is going to be a geometry powerhouse and it will also do much better than the HD 5870 at tessellation. I think those of you are that are smarter than me will really be impressed by the fundamental design, so give this stuff a read.

Fermi

For those of you who likes them newfangled video thingys, check these legit Fermi videos out. On that page Kyle does not say they are authentic, but he does say that on the bottom of this page.

That's His Name so Don't Wear it Out!
Did this come from the link I gave in the forums yesterday?

Still, I can't wait for the 5870 to drop to $250-300 in a few months!

The L2 is impressive, and totally irrelevant to my performance hopes from this card. I think its great Nvidia is stealing some thunder from X86 space (I mean Intel's IA64 (itanium) was really an omission that X86 is inefficient --but we've got too much invested now), problem is the end-user in need of a pixel pump isn't going to use it. The fact that it looks like the GT200 is going to be more efficient in terms of FPS/watt and/or FPS/mm^2 makes this card nothing more than another bump along the quadradic mr Moore defined for us.

Sorry Green, your headed towards a split between Tesla and Geforce. For this to impact the market we need that 30% reduction in TDP and die space, which you cna get along with a minimal performance drop by altering/removing the L2. Too bad engineering that is so expensive.

I'm sure when these come out AMD/ATI will slash their prices drastically just to cut NVidia's throat in the price war. So this is probably no big threat to the 5K series unless NVidia will be willing to compete at the same price points. Either way, I'm not in the market for a new card until the 5870's come down a couple hundred bucks, but by then I'll be ready for a 6870 haha.
