HD 4870 X2 is coming this August.

DigiTimes is reporting that the HD 4870 X2 will arrive in August with a MSRP of $499 and 2GB of GDDR5. If I can afford it and if it is released in early August, I might do my next review on the HD 4870 X2. I am going to PAX at the end of August so I want to make sure I get it done before I go. What do you guys want? Should I review the HD 4870 X2? Are you guys going to wait until August to do your upgrading?

Well I think you should review it . As far as I know , it'll be even cheaper , than the GTX280 .
If I get a new PC this year , it'll be in the fall anyway .

Definitely. This is what I've been waiting for since last year. I'll start off with one, then follow within one more for an ultra Crossfire setup. WOOHOO!! I love ATI, $500 bucks for a super fast 2GB Dual GPU Version of the 4870, I don't think NVidia will be able to compete with this one.

If you can swing it, I'd love to see a review. If it's good enough, I might switch from nVidia.

I hope ATI will package a better heatsink in the reference design for this one, seeing how the 4870 and 4850 can easily cook my meals everyday without difficulty.

That card will be a child eating monstrosity, so its only prudent to buy one. But seriously, if you are looking to upgrade I bet this thing will use only a little more power than a GTX 280 at load and perform crazy good.
