HD 3870 X2 reviews.

We have an English review from FPSLABS and we also have a translated Chinese review from PC Online. Looking at the English review, the only game that the X2 really did well in was Call of Juarez. The X2 did not do much better (and sometimes worse) than the other cards tested. The Chinese review tested more games but they only tested it versuses the 8800 Ultra. The X2 did better in Call of Juarez, Call of Duty 4, Need For Speed 11, Unreal Tournament 3, Serious Sam 2, and F.E.A.R.

Another English review is here but I can't view their snazzy animated charts here at work. :(

Wow so far it seems mighty powerful in the comparisons. I can only imagine with better drivers and all that good stuff it will be a good competitor until the 9800 GX2.

initial reviews dont show much, must be drivers :) or the 256 bit bus?

It performs just like 2 3870s in CrossFire. So I have no doubt the 9800GX2 will be able to beat it. The more interesting part is the price, $449 is a pretty sweet deal. nVidia's going to have to lower their prices quick when this card hits store shelves. Ahhh, sweet sweet competition...:)

WOW, I thnk I gonna grab a box soon, but it has needs 2 PCIe, don't think my Cooler Master Etreme power 550W can support it. I rather get the Radeon 3870

Damn.. that's as expensive as a HD 2900 XT was at first .

Seems likea sweet deal to me :) . And same old question mark issue... first page
works fine and when I switch the page everything goes down the toilet .

Well.. atleast it can max Crysis out at 1920x1200 ... if the settings were at maximum ( and DX10 ) in the (chinese)review .

But considering the fact , that it has 640 stream processors... not the best , I suppose .

they should fight on the price more, i mean it should be cheaper to produce than 2 separate cards with there boxes and extra stuff

Slightly annoying I have to login at forums to post in latest news articles. My Two Cents on this card: It's great but, try 8 months too late. It's brilliant now, it just topples the Ultra (should do even more so later when drivers mature) but in 6 months when Nvidia's rumoured new series comes out I'm sure you'll find this card being left for dead. In Australia it's expected this card will retail for $600-$650. Compared to a brand-name 8800GTS 512 for $500. I just see this as a 'stepping stone' If they implemented say GDDR 4 I'm sure it would've made it a little more expensive but also a bit more powerful for >future< games.

Wow so $450 for this card is a good deal.I have no doubt that the 9800 GX2 will win in performance but if the support or price is bad then well uhhh.... that sucks. I wonder how expensive the 9800 GX2 will be? Anybody know any info yet?

Most likely 600 USD ... the 8800 U was like 700-800 USD when it first came out , so I suppose the 9800 GX2 ( which is going to replace the 8800 U ) will cost about the same .

Thanks I figured it would probably cost just as much as an ultra. So for an SLI setup would be quite expensive. Dang nvidia and there money hats. Too bad I couldn't stay for lunch since they are having money.
