HD 2300s, 2400s & 2600s now shipping, but not to you...& not to retailers.

Yes they are shipping, but not to the people who really want them. BusinessWire has the AMD press release on this subject. I was not aware that there was going to be HD 2300 video cards. Apparently they are based on ATi's older X1000 series architecture. They are 90nm cards with no stream processors and they are only DirectX 9 capable. If you are one of those persons who has been wondering why the HD 2900 series does not have the Unified Video Decoder (UVD) feature like the rest of the HD series, this press release contains the answer!

Gaaah.... AMD is all over the place with these cards. 2300 with some weak old school X1k architecture rebranded? Weak.

yeah right theres no point making the HD 2300 if its based on an old technology and if
its not even directx 10 capable AMD must correct this or no one will buy this they'll just buy the higher end of X1k series

A little dumb move by AMD/ATi... 2300s .

Cheap move, but one that I can understand. Hopefully ATI will still be with us till 2008.

It's actually a smart move by ATI. I work at a computer retail store, and we make twice as much profit selling low-to-midrange cards compared to high end to flagship models.
