Today Nvidia is re-launching the GeForce 9800 GTX+ as the GeForce GTS 250. The card will come in two varieties: 512MB and 1GB. The 512MB version is the same old 9800 GTX+ that we all know and love. The new 1GB version however, has double the memory. With the exception of the extra memory, these cards are absolutely identical to the GeForce 9800 GTX+. Same GPU (G92b), same PCB, and the same clock speeds (you can compare the two cards here).
Nvidia decided to change the name to eliminate confusion caused by having both its 9-series cards and the newer GTX 200 series cards in the market at the same time. Personally, I'd rather see them launch a new chip instead of continuing to rebrand GeForce 8 technology. But I do appreciate their desire to clear up the confusion. That is, after all, a very large part of why GPUReview.com was founded.
Both the 1GB and 512MB versions of the GTS 250 will be available everywhere by March 10th for $149.99 and $129.99 respectively.

P.S. I have checked other review and I see the only real difference in the 9800 GTX and the GTS 250 is the GTS 250 is shorter, and uses slightly less power.
