GeForce 9800 GTX GPU-Z screen and 3DMark06 result.

Expreview has tested a single 9800 GTX in 3DMark06 for us. They also posted their GPU-Z readout as well. With this information in hand, I have added the 9800 GTX page to our database. It should be noted that I had to decrease the GTX's texture units from 64 to 56 in order to match the texture fillrate of 37.8GTexel/sec. So far the only G92 card to use all 64 texture units is the 512MB 8800 GTS.

Ugh.... that kinda sucks. It doesn't really give a good jump in 3d mark. I want to see how good this does in games. Probably nothing really surprising though.

Yeah for reals instead of having all different versions of 8800 Gts now the 9800 gt will be basically the same. The GTX will probably provide a little more performance. THen the last since they are all G92 based. Very uncool. The best thing is the fact that they are 3 way SLI capable and probably the 9800 GX2 thats it.

I rather have 2 Radeon HD3870 X2 in my PC than the GeForce 9800GTX, anyway I already have 2 of it in my PC. The Radeon HD3870 X2 perform better in 3D Mark06....

WHAT?!

the 9800GTX is a crippled, overclocked 8800GTS 512mb?

this is an absolute joke.

when a 8800 gtx and 8800 gts 512 are barely the same performace 8800 gtx to 9800 gtx will not be a big jump and i dislike the 256bit buswidth only 512 vs 768 and 386bit anyways remember me of the 7800 7900 gtx

Uhh.. wasn't it already proven that 3DMark isn't a good way to benchmark a graphics card by HardOCP?

@Kwipper
True. But it is easy and quick and gives people a vague idea of how it compares to other card's 3DMark performance.

Where is the huge jump that makes it worth dumping my Ultra OC? Did it forget to show up?

@Adam,

What kind of CPU do you have? That's an ugly score for an overclocked Ultra.

LeoniD, No the 3870X2 is not the best way price/performance. Thats still the 8800GT, although soon im sure a 8800 GTS 96 on eBay would be a good price/perfomance ratio.

Headfoot, one question, what you prefier nVidia 8800GTS G92 for 330$ or HD3870x2 for 420$ ?
Now you go thing HD3870x2 have all new specs, technology and more more new thing...
I don't know what say all people, but I want HD3870x2 nice price and fkn good performance superior than 8800Ultra on much games!!!

Don't count on nVidia this year, boys. It seems like ATI wants to break though with it's 4k series.

@LeoniD That's still a 21% increase in price versus no more than a 15% increase in performance. Yes, if you have the money to spend, the X2 is better, but the more spend the less bang you get for your buck. Thats why its not the best price/performance...

I said 8800 GT, not GTS. You can find a GT for 220-240$. You get the best FPS/dollar with the GT, due to its low price nowadays.

When I talked about 8800 GTS, I meant the old 96, thats why I said GTS 96. And im talking if you buy one of those on ebay for 150$, that would be great price/performance cause its used.

But seriously the X2 is a very good piece of hardware, but it isnt faster than the 8800 GTX, only in fake,canned timedemo benchmarks. Hell the 2900 XT gets better 3dmark scores than a 8800 GTX. In real performance though, the GTX is still faster. Check the news on the front page here, the [H]ard OCP article specifically.

8800 GT and 9600 GT are better price/performance, but not better just performance. For 440$ you can get a 8800GT sli which is definitely faster than a 3870X2

I got an idear, I think this is fake cause it doesnt make sense that they would have the leaked 9800 GTX specs before the 9800 GX2 specs when the GX2 is a lot closer to release.
