Isnt this card getting released soon to the retail market as an attack on the x1900GT?

if you can buy it at newegg, tigerdirect, or Amazon I doubt it's only sold by Dell

Obviously, the card at one point was OEM only, and is now going into retail.

Overclocked the Core from 450 to 525, and the memory from 660 to 802 with no problems and no artifacting. 3dMark06 scores, 2011, 1991, and 795 (795 is the cpu which is only a 3200 )

[H]ard|OCP's video card editor Mr. Brent Justice ahieved a 160MHz core overclock and a 96MHz overlock on the XFX 480M Extreme on stock cooling and stock voltages. That means the card was running at 640/796 and showed no artifacting in games and benchmarks! Swwweeet.

Even though it does not appear in the product name, the KOs have the Evga fan as well. The only Evga 7900 GS that deos not is the 620.

Guru3D compared the overclocking potential of the XFX 480M Extreme and the Sparkle and the XFX just kicked the crap out of the Sparkle.

It may have to do with Sparkle's decision to use different components in their non-reference design.

any word on whether Nvidia pulled a 7800GS and physically removed the pipes? or are they done with that sick practice? cuz if not, i dont understand why i dont get one of these and save myself $40 over a 7900GT.

You can't re-enable the pipelines in any 7-series card.

Galaxy's website is entirely flash based, and thus not parsable by the script I have that finds new cards. So we're always a little behind with them.

These cards are exactly the same as the 7900 GT, just with 4 pipes and 1 vertex shader disabled (and usually, less memory).

They also seem to have very good overclocking capability - a lot of people have been able to ramp the clocks up to 600/800 with stock cooling, and even if you can't get that far, 500/700 should be easy to achieve.

The overclockability is great. I have it running at 626/817mhz, with an idle temperature of about 45 degrees C, and about 60 degrees C while playing a game. And one of my case fans is broken.

The Foxconn FV-N79SM2D2-OC has different specs listed in the newegg link (560/700)

This is a good card, i have overcloked core from 450 to 675 and mem from 660 to 800. This card ROCKS THE CLOCKS, is great!

I got my 7900GS on water, 1.55V 800MHz core.

Still using my 7900GS from Galaxy....680 core 800 mem stock speeds from galaxy, upgraded the fan to a silent heatsink with memory coolers too and running fine for over a year now
