an excellent card at this price point. most models should be overclocked well except for the heavily pre-overclocked models. should be a good upgrade for 6800GS/X800XT or lower users.

The best value for your buck card out there. It requires no external power connecter, has dual DVI's, a cooler that doesn't take up slots, and performs equal to and better than a 6800GS.

got this card day of release, couldnt be happier, great midrange product, pulled 80k aquamrk3 and 6k 3dmark05.
i found the stock cooler to be noisy, replace with a vf-700

I have my eVGA 7600GT KO clocked at 600/1600. As far as I can tell, it out runs my old X800XT (540/1160) by a good amount. In Aquamark, the X800 scored a little over 11,000 GFX points, while the 7600 pulled down 12,500 GFX points. A real steal for the cash :)

It was just brought to my attention that the MSI NX7600GT-VT2D256E-HD is a fully HDCP compatible graphics card. At the time of this comment the other cards that have that feature are the retail 7950 GX2s.

I have a 3d Fuzion 7600 gt, and Im wondering where (if any) the reviews would be? Great card though seeing as how i had a BFG 7300 gs prior. Is this card good at OCing

3D Fuzion is BFG's 'economy' branded cards. I don't think many people do reviews of them. Performance should be the same as any other 7600GT though, so have a look at the rest of the reviews.

I add retail cards based on an algorithm that parses manufacturer websites. Gainwards website was a disaster last I checked, so they're kinda outta luck for now.

Good thing I add retail cards by hand cause I am getting all of Gainward's stuff today! The information on their card specs often contradicts itself so I have to be very careful. Most of the contradtictions have to do with display connectors, and VIVO.

Hi, i am doubting between two video cards:
a) Asus EAX X1600 XT Silent TVD 256m
b) Asus EN 7600 GT
The Nvidia should have better performance, the ATI lower sound. b) is 30 euro more expensive than a) at my computer shop.

Which should i choose? How irritating is noise level op Nvidia 7600GT?

Definitely the 7600GT, fan isn't that loud, and it's definitely appreciably faster.

Is it worth the extra money to get the 7600 gt instead of the gs? I can get a gs with 512mb for about the same price as a gt with 256mb. Which would be better?

Absolutely. That 512MB is doing absolutely nothing for you. The GT is much more powerful.

I purchased a PNY 7600gs and it ran great for the money. Saw the BFG 7600gt oc on sale and bought it also. The 7600gt oc smokes the gs version but it is also $100.00 more. Either card runs the latest games on high settings (most of em anyways) and has awesome fps as well. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I've just gotten a MSI NX7600GT with vivo featured on this card with a price below 200 bucks, nice card...i've tortured this card about 12 hour running overclocked @600mhz gpu and 1800mhz memory only using it stock cooling...scoring around 7k to near 8k in 3dmark05, Marvelous, very-very recommended for a mainstream card with affordable cash...

Don't judge the book by its cover... I mean, don't judge this card by its simple design. It doesn't have a big cooling system and it doesn't need extra power but it performs almost perfect for a mid-range video card. I rate this one as the best mid-range video card and it is Window Vista ready!

Lookout for the new GeForce 7650 series to be released mid-september, on same G73 core, but with 80 nm process instead of 90 nm. Also a possibility that all 16 pipelines in the G73 core will be enabled, vs 12 currently, as NVidia needs to counter the upcoming ATI X1650 XT, a brand-new card.

The G73 core has never had any more than 12 pipelines. It has no disabled pipelines whatsoever. I think the 7900GS will be going up against the X1650 XT.

The following page shows RivaTuner displaying that the G73 core has 16 pipelines: Also, the 16 pipelines are visible when scanning the system with Everest Ultimate Edition

http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=articles&go=page5&arc_id=86

Yes the 7900GS will go against the X1650 XT, but if there are 16 pipes in the G73 core, it is a good bet they are all going to be enabled at some point. Thanks for the great web site, Mike.

@Bernard

I would bet money that rivatuner is simply wrong on this one. 177 million transistors is probably not enough room for 16 pipelines. If you look at NV42, which is 12 pipelines, it's got 190 million transistors. And if you look at G72, it's got 112 million with only 4 pipelines. This all suggests that 177 million transistors simply isn't enough for 16 pipelines.

Also, it would be very uncharacteristic of nVidia to launch a brand new chip with disabled pipelines. They often release later versions with pipelines disabled, but I've never seen them release a new chip with pipes disabled right off the bat.

I'll keep my eyes open, if I see some definitive proof that there are 16 pipelines, I'll come back and edit this comment. Till then, I'm going with what makes the most sense: 12 pipes.

Mike, you make a convincing argument. We will know soon, as the upcoming GeForce 7650 series is the end of the line for the G73 core, and if 16 pipelines are to appear, it's now or never (But you have made me doubtful). The next midrange series after that is going to be based on a G8x core.

how can i tell if i have the right power supply to support this card?
Monday, November 06, 2006 6:36:08 PM
Check the wattage - 300w is the minimum.
Check the amps on the 12v rail. If u have the minimum wattage, this should be fine aswell.

Upgraded from a X850pro and have found the difference to be greater than i expected.Everything seems so much smoother in Oblivion with high settings and HDR enabled. I bought this card for £59.99 from ebay (Galaxy model), and i cant believe the bargain i have here. Yes it is the 7600gt i am talking about and not the GS as some may think for this price. Get one and be happy at sensible resolutions.

F.E.A.R. should run maxed at 1024x768 and no AA on a 7600 GT , that depends on the rest of the system . You probably could push the resolution up to 1280x1024 . And ofcourse no soft shadows .

There's a new model from XFX, the 7600GT XXX Edition with stock clocks 650 core and 1600 memory. It overclocks just fine with stock cooling up to 730-1850 completely stable. This is the best 7600gt ever made and the most powerful. With these clocks it can fight a 7900gt. It's just awesome.

i find my 7600gt goes up to 600mhz with all games stable but after that im at risk of a bsod for an 'infinite process loop' ie bad crash... i think its the game but could be driver fault (93.71 forceware)

this card's score in 3d mark 2005 can't be 6000,the X1900 GT has about 9000 score there-it's impossimple for the 7600gt to have so high score in 3d mark

This card I have to admit is really good even with the cost...Good for the user who is not to serious about gaming at 1024x768 resolution with settings on high/medium on somewhat newer games. Better performance than that of the 6800 series

I have it. On high-end games it's not a good card at all, but it's cheap, as I live on brazil, an decent video board here costs over 800 DOLLARS, but yet I live close to Paraguay.

My configuration:

Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2
2 GB DDR2 RAM @ 667 Mhz
7600 GT 256 RAM/128 Bits non-overclocked
ASUS P5LD2-X
160 GB HD Sata2 Samsung

I've always been wondering, which would perform better, 256 MB GDDR3 version or 512 MB DDR2 version?

It might.

@ PK7

The GDDR3 version will rape the DDR2 one.

The memories on the first one are running so much faster than in the second, that extra bandwidth makes all the difference.

Besides, the G73 can't make good use of 512 MB of memory, it's a waste, while it's alright with 256.
