The 6800GS is a lower cost replacement for the 6800GT. It has 4 fewer pipelines and is manufactured at 110nm (the GT was 130nm) making it much cheaper to produce. However the smaller die size and newer process allow for much higher clock speeds. In the end you get a card with as much, if not more, performance as a GT but at half the GT's orignal asking price.

For $200 I have a card faster than a 6800 Ultra. At 500/1250 this card is awesome. 6180 in 3D Mark 05.

Gainward is offering two 512MB 6800 GS cards. One is the Golden Sample Goes Like Hell which has a massive overclock of 485/650 and the other has stock clocks.

The shrink to 110nm more than compensates for the loss of 4 pipelines. This card is an absolute monster, a 500/1200 stable overclock on this card is very possible. Also, note that the Gainward 6800 GS GLH uses 1.4ns DDR3, while their standard 6800 GS uses 2.0ns RAM... hence the huge difference in RAM clocks.
