The Galaxy GeForce GT 440 is being aimed at the average gamer (who shops at Best Buy). According to the latest Valve Hardware Survey a whopping 62.53% of Steam gamers are playing their games at a resolution of 1680x1050 or lower, 25.32% of video cards had 512MB of memory, 41.17% had 1GB and only .57% had 2GB. Looking at that data it seems like the 2GB GT 440 would do well for gamers looking to purchase a midrange product with a larger framebuffer. A larger framebuffer allows a the card to handle more high resolution textures by the way.
Below are the specifications for the reference GT 440. It is important to note that this Galaxy GT 440 has 2GB of 64-bit DDR3 running at 1Ghz and it does not have a HDMI port.
I was really impressed with the size and therefore the efficiency of this card's retail box. You can see the size of the box and the size of the card compared with a DVD sized case in the picture below. The card came with a driver disk (with driver version 275.33 and Galaxy's Xtreme Tuner software), a message about registering your card with Galaxy, and a quick install guide.

Like you said, a good average gaming card but I am not getting the point of it's price range of $109.99 since (at least around here) you can nab a GTS 450 1gb for the same price or if you dont mind waiting for a $25 rebate you can get a 550Ti 1gb for only $15 more (after rebate) which will vastly out perform it unless you really badly want 2gb of vram at a low price.

I don't place any value on AIB's that load such cards with 2Gb especially when only a 64-Bit interface. I think it fruitless to review a card and not have its' contemporary competition in performance, features, and price to contrast it against. That said, either the 6570 2Gb (recently an Egg deal for $50 -AR) or the plethora of 6670 DDR3 1Gb for $60-AR, this just can't be a good place to put hard earn cash.
