Gainward has 1GB 8800 GTs too!

Asus is not the only crazy company strapping 1 gig of GDDR3 onto the 8800 GT. Gainward has two (count them two!) 1GB 8800 GT models listed on their site. Behold the Bliss 8800 GT 1GB and the overclocked Bliss 8800 GT 1GB Golden Sample.

Again it still has a 256-bit memory interface, so it wont be using the entire 1gb. a.k.a. SCAM!

Pretty cool. I like how they look with those big coolers added on. I bet that they cool pretty good. I wonder if they are silent though?

the extra 512 megs do show an improvement but dont expect miracles :) wheres that link wich explained memory buses and memory size ratios and whatnot?

@Dincon How do you figure that it would not use the entire 1 GB. I know most good looking games out right now ask for 256-512mb of video memory. At higher resolutions it is better to have more Video Memory aswell so what do you mean? The fact that this has more video memory will mean that it will probably perform better then the standard GT at higher resolutions. Much like the 640 GB GTS at higher resolutions is better then the 320 GB GTS. If they are at a lower resolution the perform about the same.

hes talking about memory allocation..well efficiency wise.

The 256bit memory bandwidth isn't that bad until you engage AA at high resolution. Then the card takes a dive. But, I like the double-wide heatsink. The GPU will have some nice OC room.

Sunny:

I know that more video-ram helps at higher res, BUT this card has a 256-bit MEMORY INTERFACE thus can only use 512MB of vider-ram. Iff it wanted to use 1GB it had to have a 512-bit MEMORY interface. (btw why the old GTS has a 320-bit interface (thus able the preform at 640bit video-ram) and the new GTS a 256-bit interface is beyond me).

I think this card is simply a overclocked GT because iff you overclock the GT to this new GTS speeds you get the same result so this card is an overclocked GT with a new cooler so it wont get to hot. SCAM!

The memory bus width does not limit how much ram can be accessed. All of the 1GB will be usable.
