G80 specifications leaked!

Well I am at work and apparently http://vr-zone.com/?i=4007 is an evil website which means I can not view it. But I can view these posts over at XtremeSystems Forums and the [H]ard|Forums . Enjoy these specs and please discuss them with us by leaving your comments .

Well the 384 bit and 320 bit memory inferaces means that Mike is going to have to add some more choices to our add card page. Also I wonder if there is enough room for a 4 digit core clock to display properly right now. (Goes and tries it) Yes there is enough room there for 4 digit core and memory speeds at the same time even.

This seems strange, mostly because everyone thinks that the new models will be called 8800 GT and 8800 GTX.
Also, the 768Mb and 384-bit seems a little wierd, as they usually go abt doubling their formats - 256-bit from 128-bit and there were 24 pipelines after 16, not 20. Hmm, first post abt this on the [H] forum asks the same thing - "Anyone know the reasoning behind the goofy amount of ram?

768MB memory size (512MB 256MB)

I would think theyd just double it or something. but what do i know."

And does it make sence for them to have 768Mb of RAM anyway? I mean what game uses more then 256Mb except Doom 3. DX10 games to come out in 2007-2008 arent likely to use more then 512Mb of RAM.

And making the 2 cards have different memory interfaces would mean that they would have to make 2 chips, right? That dosent make much sence. And them having the same ammount of RAM, while they never have had before.

Im going to wait until the offical specs come out in 6-8 months.

(ALSO, why cant i use spaces beetween paragraphs here? it just mixes everything i say together.)

Oh, and i just noticed this - how are they going to scale the CORE clock up to 1.5Ghz on 90nm? That makes no sence. The core clock should be around the same, the core should only be more powerfull due to increased pipelines, until they make 65nm and even then are we really going to see twice the clock speed of the 90nm?

I'm far more concerned about how I'm going to make the database work with unified shader architectures.

The memory bus is a half step between 256 bit and 512 bit. 384 is a lot easier to put on a pcb, but requires a somewhat whacky memory configuration since since you're 6x64 instead of a power of 2.

I agree the core clock of 1.5GHz seems ludicrous at best. Especially since, in the same post, they claim it's only twice as fast with pixel shaders as a 7900gtx.

Right, so it's fake. If one part is, most likely the rest is too.

According to what i hear, these are the specs of 2 cards(!). This is probably why the transistor count is 700M and the core clock is 1.5Ghz. This means that each card would have a core clock of 750Mhz and 350M transistors.

Still wierd how they wrote it like it was a single card when it's actually 2xG80.
