nVidia G92/G94 failures?

Any update since the August 12, 2008 blurb in the News section about nVidia G92 / G94 GPU's experiencing an increased failure rate?

What sort of failures? Does the board just go tango uniform?

Maybe now is not the best time to go shopping for a 8800GT or 9800GT on eBay? :P
