Can you all guys help me solve a question:
Given that (4x^3)-(6x^2)+1 = (x-2)(x+1)Q(x)+Ax+B where Q(x) is a polynomial, find A and B. I know you guys here are far cleverer than me, so please help me with this question, I've been struggling with it for 2 hours. My teacher said that Q(x) is a function which I don't know what it meant. Thanks for the help Note: This symbol ^ means to the power of.

Have you ever seen f(x)=---- or something like that?
Function(x) essentially means that it's another equation applied to the variable symbolized by the f(x) (this can be q(x),z(x),p(y), etc...). So because Q(x) is a polynomial, it could be at least 2 variables. In this situation it looks like it means that q(x) is a couple of different numbers. At least that's how I understood it. Got nothing on the rest of that problem right now. What type of math are you in? Sounds like your first job is to find out what Q(x) can equal. Is there any more context to the problem?

Goddamn man, how old are you?
The only mathematics that I do now are for my music visualizers, so I won't be able to help you much from terminology. Looking at the equation, it's not something that I would have been able to do in high school. Then again, I'm in the US so...

Terminology is a pain in the ass to be honest . Atleast in school subjects .

I don't know any of it anymore, but I can still use annoyingly complex equations in milkdrop.
Terminology is used by people trying to act smarter than they are, or by people who want to be teachers. It's a goddamn cycle. Student learns terminology useless in real world>Student finds they can't use the terminology>Student becomes a teacher to teach terminology to more students.
