HIS H485QS512P For Sale, and listed on ebay. For anyone that already has one of these cards and is looking to crossfire. These cards are very hard to find. I placed an order for one at Plemix last week for $172.00. Two days later they told me it was out of stock and they couldn't get it. The only reason i am selling this card is because i wanted to crossfire and ive read its not a good idea to do so with anything newer than a 4850, since the newer card will be hindered by the slower model. Therefore i decided to upgrade to two HIS 4870HD's.
The 4850 has excellent reviews and for the games i play such as bf2, get high frames 60fps+ max settings. I didnt post a link to ebay since it may be a violation of terms of this forum and the thread may be deleted. If interested reply here and i will respond asap.

And if you're going to get a faster card , get a HD 5870 or something .

Sorry to say, but you really did pay far too much for that card and you really should be trying for something different than a 4870 at this point.

You're right, the 4850 is a good card, it's just not a $170 card. If you like that kind of cooler you should take a look at the Sapphire VaporX and the MSI heatpipe versions, they're both excellent cooler designs that are usually pretty quiet and effective. The HIS ICEQ coolers are awesome, but so are some of their competition's. Basically go for lowest price.

$170+ is too much for a 4850, even with a kickass cooler. If you were seeing it for that then I'd be willing to bet that the two 4870s are hovering around $200 apiece, if that's the case then you'd be better off going for a single 5870 from newegg.

I'll send you a message with the ebay link. Like i mentioned before, this is for someone who needs a HIS 4850hd, not someome simply looking a single card graphics update. Supply and demand, this card is deactivated, so for someone who wants to purchase this card, they going to have to hunt for it. Mismatching cards in crossfire it not recommended and i can tell u from experience that it doesnt work to the full extent of the capabilities of crossfire. Run any search for this card(where available*in stock) and look at the price. Then you can get back to me about unfair prices. gL

I'm just saying man, you really shouldn't have paid that much for that card. Just because it's priced there at retail doesn't make it worth the money.

You can easily mismatch different manufacturer's cards of the same make in crossfire. If you put a HIS 4850 card in crossfire with a stock Sapphire 4850 it will work. The cooler doesn't matter, and the manufacturers are all using the same design to build the cards.

Occasionally you'll get a hiccup like the 4850x2 or Asus' trinity attempt at putting 3x3850s on a single card, but for the most part the manufacturers just follow the design set out by ATI and Nvidia so the internal workings of the cards are exactly the same.

And seriously, if I've estimated the pricing on the 4870s correctly you should be looking at a 5870 instead. I'm just trying to be helpful here.

I hear ya.. I already had purchased 2 of the 4870's from newegg though. $159.00 ea after rebate. Ive been running mismatches crossfires and there are a ton of bugs and issues. Get great gameplay from them but there are alot of small issues. The 4870 underclocks to match the slower card. And if u attempt to OC the slower it causes crashes and stalls. Core temps are way diff also creating temp issues.

Yeah, if you get a stock 4870 and a factory OC'd one the OC'd one will downclock to match the stock 4870.

Also, you can't overclock every card, some end up with poor quality capacitors, cores that barely made the grade, mediocre cooling solutions, etc. and will fail to do their jobs when you try and OC them. I'd be willing to bet that if you disconnected your oc'd card you would have the same crashing problems if you tried to overclock the slower one. That's most likely where your problem is.

A pair of stock 4870s crossfired will still provide LOADS of graphics power - enough for any game out there right now. The 5870's raw power is equal to them though, and you don't have to worry about SLI/crossfire's sometimes spotty support in games. DX11 support is an alright feature too.
