This question is for a Yamaha tech support person to answer.
Their system only allows up to 1,000 characters to be sent so I posted the question here. I was looking for some info on protected audio and came across a Microsoft Power Point Presentation. Microsoft PowerPoint presentation I will admit that I did not understand everything so that is why I have a few questions. First I want to begin with the components of my home theatre system. PlayStation 3 HDMI $600.00 model(Not purchased yet of course, I already own a Xbox 360) http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/specs.html Yamaha YHT-270 System (Purchased still in box) System link. Receiver link. Sharp LC37D90U 37" 1080P LCD HDTV (Not purchased yet) http://www.sharpusa.com/products/Mod...8,1718,00.html My planned hook up for these components WAS as follows: Picture PS3->(HDMI)-> Sharp HDTV Audio PS3->(Optical audio)-> Yamaha HTR-5930 receiver-> Speakers Now to the questions! With the above hook up scheme would copy protected Blu-ray audio be downgraded or not transfered because the Yamaha receiver does not have HDMI in and out? I am not very good at distinguishing audio quality, would an untrained ear such as mine hear the difference between downgraded audio and audio that has not been downgraded? Is there another hookup scheme using the above components that will not result in downgraded audio? I am sure the following setup would work but would result in sound only coming from the TV speakers: Picture PS3 ->(HDMI)-> Sharp HDTV Audio PS3 ->(HDMI)-> Sharp HDTV But what about this setup? Picture PS3 ->(HDMI)-> Sharp HDTV Audio PS3 ->(HDMI)-> Sharp HDTV-> (Optical audio)-> Yamaha HTR-5930 receiver-> Speakers Depending on your answers to these questions, I may decide to return my unopened Yamaha YHT-270 system and get a receiver that has HDMI in and out. I would rather not do that because of the extra cost, but if I must, I will.

My question was actually answered!
I thought they never received it because when you submit a question on their website I got confirmation message pop up or e-mail that my message was sent. The form that you use to submit just reloads with no information it it.
