I don't think they need both the 512-bit memory bus and GDDR5

That would mean a lot of unused bandwidth and a very expensive card

I can get an HD3850 for just over $80 even here in Canada

Oh and why the heck did they use a DDR2 version of the 3850 as a comparison?

The GTX280's fillrate is far lower than the 9800GX2, but it still beats the 9800GX2

Drivers play an important role in performance too.

The X1950 series beat Nvidia's 7800/7900 series in terms of performance

Also the 7900 series has an artifacting problem (Bad memory chips I think)
