Not sure wether this is the the rightsection to post this but:
I just recently bought myself the Packard Bell IX9600 which comes with the Geforce 9600 GS. According the GPUReview database it should have a 550 MHz core clock speed & 800 MHz memory clock speed however according to Ntune my card is set to 500 MHz Core clock speed & 510 MHz Memory Clock speed.
When I tried to bring it back to normal standards using the Ntune overclock feature it failed. The max I have managed to get it to is 700 MHz core clock speed & only 650 MHz memory clock speed.
This is significantly dissapointing & means that I have extremely poor Frame rate in games such as Crysis Warhead.
So is there any way to fix this or is it just a very poor card. If it is just a poor cad would I be able to send it back to the manufacturer?
Any help would be really appreciated.

it could very well be in "sleep" mode, and only clocks up during gaming
also if you think increasing your core by 50 mhz is going to fix your
poor frame rates in crysis....
it won't help a whole lot either way
your card is a mid-low end card

Lol , I'll bet that card is a DDR2 memory version of it , not the GDDR3 one . DDR2 NEVER runs at clockspeeds like that .
And the 9600 GSO isn't that good to begin with , so you wouldn't get uber framerates in Crysis even with the GDDR3 version ( albeit you would definitely get better performance , it won't max the game out at good framerates ) .

Well thankyou for thefast responses & yes you were right Radiator. I just cecked now & it is the DDR2 version annoyingly. It would've really helped if they'd actually had some decent info on the card when I bought the system.
And by the way notice that I said "Crysis Warhead" which is generaly much easier to run & has lower system requirements.

Crysis Warhead runs only SLIGHTLY better , than the original Crysis .
And didn't it say DDR2 on the box ?

yes we did read it as crysis warhead
however the difference between crysis and warhead is slight
to get the card to run at 550 mhz vs 500 mhz, would only make a few
frames per second difference. the only way really to make the game run
a lot better would be a more powerful video card
sorry i wish it was a lot better news
and the ram may have to be doubled in the display
i know my x1950 pro the ddr2 speed was half its actual speed in the
display on the ati control panel and even other software

Ah, it appears I was misinformed about Warhead being way easier to run then.
And didn't it say DDR2 on the box ?
I bought a pre-built system & I couldn't find any detailed specs anywhere for it so I assumed it was the one that came up in the database.

I still don't get it why people bother with pre built systems ... cheaper to build your own from seperately bought parts ... plus you know exactly what's in it without having to look it up .

Heh... Amen to that, plus you get some sense of accomplishment
when you build your own :D , but i understand it is difficult for some.
