Hello,

I am new to these forums and i needed to sign up because of a pressing question.

I am a proud owner of a GTX 295 and somewhere in the future i plan to get another GTX 295 but i hear that they are now making a new Single PCB GTX 295. I am now worried that by the time i decide to buy a another one, they will be single PCB ones which is fine.

So what i am asking here is: Can a GTX 295 Double PCB SLI with a newer GTX 295 with a single PCB? I know they aren't out yet but i was hoping someone knew or not so I could get and old one before they all switch over to single PCBs if they cant SLI.

I would think so, but we'll have to see. I can't think of a reason why they wouldn't implement SLI between two versions of the same card, but it's nvidia so... we'll see.

Wasn't that single PCB design a hoax ?

I doubt it would be a hoax. With the competitiveness of prices, they can't afford to stick the GTX295 at the same price levels at this economic environment, and with the same PCB design which is quite expensive to make.

Damn those were some badly written sentences ... but I think I got the point of them .
Yeah it's a bit cheaper to make , but still I doubt nVidia would do it . Basically I will not believe it until they actually release it .
And well as you might know , nVidia sells cards at below making price (well the GT200 based cards anyway) , I doubt a PCB change would help at that .

Hmm....

Guess i will have to wait and see... Its seems pretty clear though that nvidia, to keep thier competative prices, will have to make it single PCB. I have already seen the price of the GTX 295 rise quite a bit since release date.

I just hope that the two versions can still SLI...

It might not change the cost for the consumer, but it should make the manufacturing of the card much cheaper to have it on a single PCB. I still don't know if it's going to actually happen, but it would be justified on NV's part.

Well I'm not sure how much cheaper would it make it... yeah it would make it cheaper , but I don't think it will be THAT much cheaper... then again I am in every way a novice so I might be mistaken .
