I got a 9700 Pro made by sapphire that shows artifacts (blocks of blue squares mostly) over the screen.

Its even artifacts in the bios screens.

I put on a artic cooling vga silenser but that dident help.
Is it definitly busted?

/thanks for help :(

With that cooler it really shouldn't be a heat problem. Did your old fan fail at some point?

Only other thing I could think to try (assuming that it's actual artifacting in all games and it's not just a driver issue, which you should always check first btw) is to underclock the card and see if that has an effect.

Chances are, you're looking at a busted card.

... meanwhile my 7900 GT OC is going strong with a missing capacitor! I really need to RMA that bad boy at some point. I have the info, I just need to send it.

:D

WoW pwns me though - I can't go 2 days without playing. :(

hmm...maybe they would just send you out a new one with a box to ship the old one back? I know lots of other companies do that, but I dunno about BFG...

Yeah, I asked that - they normally do that but for some reason not with the 7900 (maybe they just don't have enough of a stock to do that).

You might wanna do it while you have your 6600 to swap back in there..

Yeah, yeah...

I just don't know what I'll do without 1900x1200 WoW for a couple days.

You won't get a 7900 - by the time you get around to it, something way better will be in your price range.

wat do u think about nvidia and ati?

Wats better nvidia or ATI?

I suggest nvidia is better becuase there cards give better performance and better price. Drivers are hasslefree. With ati drivers theres always errors, vpu error recover, and ingame problems.

That's a huge debate that we're not going to get into here...bottom line is, for gaming, both companies make fantastic cards...it all comes down to personal tastes...

I have had NO issues with my X800GTO2 (ATI). Drivers have installed fine, everytime. Games run nice and smooth with high settings. Oh, and it was cheap . Very cheap.

The 7600 GT is fairly fast . Even a little faster than the X800GTO , but I'm not 100% sure on that . But very close to it at the very least .
Edit: OMG sorry for digging up this thread , didn't notice the date on it :( .
