i am looking at a laptop with a ATI mobility Radeon 256 mb hd 3650 video card
Also looking to get astronomy software that recuires ATI x800 thur x1650 or
128mb GeForce nVidia 6600 or greater. Are the three compatable? will the
software work on the laptop? Is the HD 3650 a better card? That is the best option in video card that comes with laptop. THANKS ALOT

Thanks axesupra,
have a couple more questions if knowone minds,
Does the ATI Mobility Radeon 256mb HD 3650 driver support
hardware-accelerated open GL 2.0? AND how good is this video card?
thanks in advance.

found this about that series of card
The R600 core processes vertex, geometry, and pixel shaders as outlined by the Direct3D 10.0 specification for Shader Model 4.0 in addition to full OpenGL 2.1 compliancy,[1] but only with OpenGL 2.0 support.

sorry Nis, i was just doing a quick search and had to run out the door
the 3650 will do open gl 2.0 hardware acceleration
and should run the software more than fine, since its a few levels beyond a x1650 even
it is also the best card out of everything you have listed
upgrading the video card on a laptop is in most cases is NOT an option
and even it is, is usually not worth it, difficult to find and you would be better off to just get a whole new laptop
does that help ?
Yes, the hd3650 will run openGL 2.0. It's a decent card, though there are significantly better chips out there now. Look into the nvidia 9600m GT and 9650m GT chips.
If you're going for a laptop go for the top graphics card you can because upgrades usually aren't an option - they're far too expensive to be worth it or entirely impossible.
A couple of suggestions:
