Good day all,

I'm currently using a Gecube HD3870 that i bought few weeks ago..

Before this i'm using OEM Nvidia 7900GS 440/660 256MB 256BIT DDR3.After changing to HD3870 i was amazed and HD3870 is doing very well for gaming..I can play crysis at high details and medium shader, Turok on all high details but i don't know why, when i tried to play COD4, the game was totally lagged...i'm not sure it was caused by hardwares or the softwares..but i know if it caused by hardwares, i totally can't play another games that i have. Before this, using 7900GS i can play the game without any issue, the game running smoothly at custome high level setting with 4x AA.:(:(

I've changed the driver from ATi Catalyst 8.4 to ATi Catalyst 8.5, but it doesn't work too..

Is there something i must change it Catalyst control panel to make the card run smoothly on COD4?Or is there any stable ATi driver that can be download?

I hope you guys can help me with this..i'm really confused right now...

Thanks for reading my problem
Have a nice day all:)

That's very weird... and you get that problem only in CoD4 and nowhere else ?
Try reinstalling CoD4 then ... other than that , I don't know what to suggest .

Do you have AA enabled in COD4? I know ATI cards are not the best with AA but they shouldn't be that bad either. Maybe if anything try less AA or no AA and see if that makes a difference.

yaa..i've changed the AA setting from 4x to 2x and no AA at all..but still, it doesn't make any differences.

Right now trying to change the driver from 8.5 back to 8.3...

If reverting drivers doesn't fix it , then I have no idea what will .

The only thing that sucks though when trying to revert back drivers is that traces of the newer drivers will always be found even if you download the old driver and install it. There is some way to get rid of that but I have to find out. It could be that the newer driver does not provide better performance and in some cases there are older drivers that will sometimes perform better in some games versus newer drivers.

Another kinda a crazy way that always seems to work is a fresh install of your operating system. The only thing that sucks about that is having to back up all of your old files. Or start out fresh with some programs. But that way you could just install the driver you like and not the others.

thanks guys for the support

finally i solved the issue..it was not from the graphic card or the driver.

After checked all the hardwares, i had founded my second hard drive was not enough supplied with the power. i realized the problem when installed HDD Sentinel and browsed thru the event viewer..now waiting for my Huntkey v-power 550wt to arrive...

thanks again for the support.
