I was reading about the upcoming AMD CPU's that are supposed to be out in 2k9. In this ad, http://www.nytimes.com/idg/IDG_852573C400693880002574420065A642.html?ref=tech nology

If these are going to be 32nm chips, then I'm hoping that this will transfer into the designs and technology used in the future ATI videocards.

Could you imagine a 4 or 6 core ATI card, with GDDR5 and each core running at 850Mhz??

That would be friggin awesome!

4 or 6 cores would be horribly inefficient , not to mention it would have an insane power consumption and heat output... and lack of room on the PCB itself .

I would think the smaller die size would help. But I do think it would need lots of power like radiator mentioned. They would definately need to be PCI-Express 2.0 to be able to transfer all the data from that many cores. But would probably perform really well.

Actually... the performance wouldn't be that great in my opinion... it would be insanely inefficient still .

I think its still kind of early to predict whether they would be inneficient. As its just future Tech. But who knows you may be right. :p

Well you'd have to connect all cores with eachother... and currently the 2 core video cards have huge PCBs already... you can only imagine how big a 4 or a 6 core one would be .
