Just wondering.. what kind of music ( type of music , and please name some bands aswell ) do you people listen to ?

And another question... do any of you play any kind of musical instruments ?
I listen to alternative rock and some symphonic metal bands... aswell as grunge . Some of the bands I could name are The White Stripes , Foo Fighters , Nirvana , The Strokes , The Vines , Wolfmother , Godsmack , Nightwish , Dimmu Borgir , Pixies and Sonic Youth .

And I play the guitar .

I listen to just about everything, but my favorite groups/artists are:

Tool
Clutch
Nine Inch Nails
Radiohead
Gogol Bordello
Shpongle
Infected Mushroom (I'm listening to them right now actually)
Primus
Balkan Beatbox
KMFDM
The Mars Volta

Oh, and I play a custom Ibanez 7-string guitar.

Cheers.. and I thought noone was going to reply :P .
I'm probably going to get myself a new acoustic guitar fairly soon ...

I need to find a good acoustic 7-string.

Goddamn rare they are.

Radiator

Bought myself an acoustic guitar today... :D . And it's actually much better than I expected .

-RK
03-28-2008, 04:30 PM
Got a new group to add to that list:
1200 Micrograms. More psytrance techno.

Acoustic is very nice. Especially if you get the ability to switch between magnetic pickups & an internal mic.

Those are the qualifications for my 7-string purchase that are making it extremely difficult to find. I'll also want a hardshell case for festival hopping.

I may have to order a custom guitar for a grand or two...
I want to say dammit, but it would be sweet to design my own guitar...

Radiator

2 grand ? :O
That's quite a bit . But designing it would be fucking sweet indeed .

-RK
03-28-2008, 11:05 PM
That's probably what the thing would cost to have made as a non-standardized design...
I won't have the money for a LONG time...

damn... I could buy a car... damn...

Radiator
03-29-2008, 11:53 AM
If I had that kind of money... I'd try to triple it and buy a motorcycle :P .

-RK
03-29-2008, 07:55 PM
Oh god I want a superbike so bad... 130mph without any effort... damn.

I'd get the guitar first though...

Damn it! There don't seem to be any musicians in here.

Seems to me , people here don't even listen to music , let alone make it ... sad , really .
By the way , do you use last.fm ?
If you do , add me , this is my user - http://www.last.fm/user/Mag1cMushroom/ .

-RK

ahhh... no I don't

I only use this:

That link came up pretty blank.. just two green stripes and a big white stripe in the middle of it... nothing else :/ .
I suppose I should get a newer version of FF :P .

-RK
03-30-2008, 03:54 AM
No, you should get Opera.

FF is good, but Opera has loads of extra features that I like a lot.

Regardless, it's a really cool site. The radio itself is an animated rotating cube and the background changes over time. If you like trance techno of any kind you'll like it.

Radiator

I don't have much interest in extra features... I only want tabs and I want all sites working , which FF provides me already .
I haven't even used favourites for a while :P .
But perhaps I'll give it a try in a while .

So what kind of music I listen to....... I like those can of music which can really change the mood (like sad, happy). Like The Matrix Revolution soundtrack, Track 13: Neodämmerung, the music is used in the final fight between Neo and Smith (If you watch the movie you should know). I also like sad musics, like The Matrix Revoltion soundtrack, track 15: Spirit of the Universe. This music is used in the ending of the movie. Anyway anybody know the song of this song? http://profile.imeem.com/J_0KVX/music/_koWNZFM/lotrmp3/ I don't know the real title of the song because it's recorded, so I mark it it "LOTR". Because I heard it's Lord of the Ring soundtrack. ANybody know the song name please tell me, I'm killing myself to find it.

c'mon what kind of techno & rock man... They're huge genres. What groups do you listen to?

The link doesn't play for me by the way. It's from a movie soundtrack, so honestly I probably don't care.

Here's a complete tracklist for ya:

I went to a record store the other day... half the store was labeled "Rock/Pop" ... those are bloody huge genres... why the fuck couldn't they have been more specific ?
And yeah... what kind of music , mate ? What bands in particular ? And please do not say Good Charlotte or Fall Out Boy . If you say that , I'm going to take away your PC and burn the harddrive that contains those bands ... and keep the rest of the PC . :P

Anyway , I just use last.fm to find new artists... and it scrobbles down what I listen to .
I have 1 harddrive completely for music... woot ! :P

Now he's not gonna say it and you won't get to burn his harddrive and steal his stuff...

Honestly, I don't know much about song genres, I just listen to them without thinking much. I seldom listen to music, I mostly use my PC to play games.....

Aww... only two bands ? Well , better than nothing I suppose .

I've been listening to a lot of Led Zeppelin , The Doors and Deep Purple lately... glad I did a cleanup (deleted some discographies of bands I no longer listen to , to get more space) in my 2nd harddrive to download more music .

Check out A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails, & Tool wyz.

I think you'll like them. You may have to let NIN grow on you, but they're damn good once you get into it.

For all the rest of you who like blues, metal, and general weirdness check out Clutch.

Well as my name implies I enjoy mostley German based rock. That is Rammstein, E Nomine, Megahertz, and OOMPH. However I listen to just about anything sadistice, and evil, which the Germans excelle at. But I guess anthor example would be ICP. One other thing my name translanted into english, means The Elite, in German.

I am the most metal motherf* here. I seriously haven't removed Vital Remains' "Icons of Evil" from my car's CD player since the day it was released.

That was April 3, 2007.

I also spend a lot of time listening to Daylight Dies, Amon Amarth, Swallow the Sun, Bloodbath, Opeth, old In Flames, Decapitated, Soilwork, Fear Factory, Machine Head... even Metallica...

And, for variety, I dig various forms of prog; Green Carnation, Neal Morse, Spock's Beard, Porcupine Tree, Tool, The Flower Kings, Pain of Salvation, The Tangent...

Post rock is also good. Only two real artists stick out there, the almighty Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Explosions in the Sky. Do Make Say Think are, actually, a close 3rd. Mogwai a distant 4th.

Music used to be my life... damned getting old and having to quit my band. >.<

Amon Amarth cover (http://tafkatfos.home.comcast.net/AA-8H.mp3) I did just for fun. Actually, that's more like karaoke than a cover.

Froh, von einen Rammstein ventilator außerdem zu hören!

Annihilator, Anthrax, Black Sabbath, Disturbed, Dragonforce, Evile, Forbidden, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Korn, Michael Angelo Batio, Megadeth, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Pantera, Rammstein, Slayer, System of a Down, Warbringer, and more.

I do also like Pink Floyd... lol I know it's weird.

Pink Floyd is great ... I'd have their discography , if it didn't take 4 GB of HD space ( I don't have that much free space on my music HD :( ) .

Pink Floyd, The Police, Peter Gabriel, Linkin Park, Steve Jablonsky (wyz, you should check him out--The Island OST and Transformers OST are particularly good), James Newton-Howard, 311, Anberlin, Claude Debussy, Michael Kamen, The Benjamin Gate, Blink 182/Boxcar Racer, Jim Brickman, Burlap to Cashmere, Cake, The Coasters, Journey, Crystal Method, Dario Marianelli, Delerium, Switchfoot---I don't know where to start. Got about 106 GB on my storage drive--26k songs, and I listen to most of it in any given year. Rare that music isn't playing around here.

Country when I drink with old friends, Techno when I drive, Soundtracks when I work/work out (Halo 1,2,3 are great for that), Rock/Alternative when I feel like it, 80s rock/classic rock when I'm on long trips, slow/Jazz when it's time to treat the ole lady right--really, the only thing I never listen to is Rap.

Oh--I play the guitar. Currently I own a 1979 Ovation that sounds and smells like heaven, and a 2004 Taylor SE Rosewood Dreadnaught that plays itself. I've got a Fender 12 string and a blue Strat, but I rarely play those.

On occaision I play the piano (Kawai), and when I want to learn something new I play my violin (full size). I suck at the violin though, so it pains me to hear myself play it.

Lately I've been listening to R&B and some rock. Island tunes are what I listen to, as I play the ukulele.

Radiator

I wish I could connect a ukulele to an amp and a distortion box ... that would sound really cool I'll bet . I went to a concert a month or so ago , where a member of the band played the violin through distortion .
