Hey guys, cheers for reading this thread and hopefully trying to help me.
Once upon a time I was a happy little boy who saved his pennies and bought a $600 MSI-6800GT :D (didn't realise 7800GT came out the week later but that's another story)
Awhile back i was trying to get some more frames in R6-Vegas so I clocked my AMD 3500+ from 2.1 to 2.4 GHz, No Worries... however no extra fps :(
So i decided to hit up my Nvidia Tuning (the one that comes default with drivers) and it over clocked it from stock up around about 50MHz.
Jumped back in the game, more FPS :D but i noticed black 'tearing' across the screen :(. Being scared immediately I jumped out and put clocks back to stock and never had a problem after (or so I thought).
Not long after my PSU started to make very odd sounds for no reason, I figured i'd hit my computer, it rocked and the PSU stopped making sounds. (only mentioned this cause I thought it might be relevant)
Anyway, all was good in the land of my computer until recently. My games either crashed saying 'Could not find Direct X 9 Renderer' or My monitor would just loose signal. Counter Strike: Source, Battle For Middle Earth 2, Vampire The Masquarade, CoD 4, MoH: Airborne... no longer work (what a bummer).
While doing some Hard Drive maintainance I noticed there were 2 folders inside my Nvidia driver folder, odd I thought, I must have 2 sets of drivers, silly me. I uninstalled them both and installed the latest (169.21).
Yup, no worries, installed fine, try to play CoD 4 (@ 1680x1050 btw, stupid 22" monitor) and what do you know it works fine! *2 Seconds Later* Oh, okay i'll go play Counter strike *Boots up, choose server* and my monitor becomes blank, flashes, and looks for a signal. No Luck There.
The more and more I try, it seems as if my 6800GT has lost the ability to render DX 9 (tried running CSS in DX 8.1 didn't work either).
So what am I asking for, well a solution, the actual problem so I know what's wrong, was it my fault because of the over clocking and i've technically still got 5 months of the 3 year warranty left would I be able to send it to MSI?
Once again, thanks for bothering to read about my problem
