Well, one of my friend just saw my beautiful Radeon HD2600XT box in my room which I've bought quite sometime ago and can't use it because of my PSU. He gave me an offer, to trade his Powercolor Radeon X1950PRO 256MB GDDR3. As you all keep saying buy the X1950 instead the HD2600, so should I accept or decline the trade? I want a Graphic Card that can last me a year or two....

A 256MB X1950 Pro hmm... well , I'd take it , but it's up to you .

I think I would take radiator's advice if it were me I would.

But it is your decision.

thinking of the X1950PRO, DX9.0c which isn't very future-proof, later games may make use of lots of DX10 shader effects, I need a graphic card which can last me a year or two. But the Radeon HD2600XT bandwidth really sucks, but the good thing is that it has lots of shader power, but very little pixel fill rate and texture operations. If I need a graphic card that is very future-proof, should I trade with him or use my Radeon HD2600XT?

Neither card is very future proof. The x1950 is a better performer, but you might want full dx10.

Personally, I'd go with Radiator's suggestion. The x1950 is just a better card. (If you do it, you might want to check on the card first.)

None of the current cards can handle DX10 perfectly , really . So , if upgrade wait for the next generation of cards and get the high-end of them . Otherwise it wont last you for a long time .

think I'll continue using my HD2600XT, because it's new, while my friend's X1950PRO is already a year old. What's more I want to experience some DX10 effects, I had enough of DX9.0c.

Anyway thanks for the help guys:)

Age doesn't matter really... the X1950 Pro is considerably faster... and good luck getting any semi-decent FPS in DX10 with that card . Just trade it for the X1950 Pro , you will not regret it .

OH NO!!!!:( He does not want to trade with me after seeing this forum, damn shouldn't have told him this site to compare cards, he's almost deceive by me saying the HD2600XT is more powerful because of it's Shader power....:(

Lol... BL ...
But anyway , that HD 2600 XT will still run DX9 games decently , but not as well as the X1950 Pro .

but in some review I've seen the Radeon HD2600XT performing better than the X1950PRO, anyway since mine is GDDR3 and the memory clock is clock much lower to 700MHz instead of 1100MHz, will it affect my gaming performance very badly?

Radiator

Nope... it prettymuch won't affect your gameplay .

Sweetness, I look forward to it.

Sorry to hear about that 1950 though.

Then'll you'll see how powerful it is. To be more precise, how sucky it is
