Well, my old card blew out (Ati- radeon 9800 pro 256) and Ive been looking into new cards and it just is so hard for me to decide; and I was wondering if someone could point me in a good direction.
I'm looking for a AGP 8x card for under 300.
I'm running:
Windows XP
Pentium 4 2.0ghz
1.25ghz Rambus
(If theres any other info that could help let me know)
I do a lot of gaming on a wide variety of games
(World in conflict, Wow, Battlefield 2, oblivion, crysis & others)
I also do a fair amount of video editing for my film team.
I would like to thank anyone who helps in advance, I really need some help here.

Your CPU will be a bottleneck , but still ... a X1950 Pro AGP is your best choice at the moment .
1.25ghz Rambus?
How much RAM do you have ?

rambus is RAM, also known as RIMM & RDRAM.
I'd just scrounge up whatever you can on e-bay. Buying anything new would be a huge waste of money. You'd be much better off upgrading your processor and ram first.

get a new motherboard too, AGP is seldom used nowadays, now most Graphic Card uses PCIe

He'd have to buy a new CPU and new memory , if he upgraded his motherboard .

i have a similar issue.
i have P4 3.06 Ghz 800Ghz, 2Gb ddr 3200 and saphire 9600xt on agp port. i am somewhat happy with my machine right now, i don't really need vista, core 2 and other new expensive gizmoz yet i could use a faster video card for gaming and minor video editing.
is there something comparable from nVidia to ATi's radeon X1950 Pro? is HD2600 is worth upgrading to?

Well , nVidia's 7900 GS is in the same pricerange as the X1950 Pro , but the performance is much lower . Better get a X1950 Pro , rather than a HD 2600 ( Pro or XT ) .

I'm also un decided about what to get...I've checked reviews here and other sites too on the GeForce 79000's/8600 and ATI 1950's.....
Sometimes I think I read too much in what to buy, I should just buy one and don't read too much into all these reviews...
I have a Dell XPS 400, Win XP SP2, 2 Gig RAM (533 MHz), 375 Watt PS,
Dual 2.8 Intel with a AIT X600... <<-- OLD!!
I think upgrading the card 1st would help a lot, then 2nd upgrading my RAM to 4 Gig at 666 MHz, this should get me by a couple of more years...
Would a DirectX-10 card work on a XP system?
I don't want to upgrade to Vista yet, well actual never...
Been thinking Fanless card?

A DX10 card will work , but you'll have to run games in DX9 . The X1950 Pro is faster than a 7900 GS , a 8600 GT and probably the 8600 GTS , so definitely get the X1950 Pro .

That's what I've seen allot, people choose the 1950Pro over the 7900...
I been leaning more toward the 1950 than the 7900, it looks like my pick...

The X1900/X1950 cards are much faster than the 7900's ... due to the riddiculous amount of shader horsepower on them :P .
