Hi, I was looking at the 8800 ultra, and the 2900 xt 1 gb. I was wondering which card is the best? I plan on getting 2 cards, so I can either run them in SLI, or Crossfire. Thanks a lot :).
Forget about any AMD card.
You could either get 8800 Ultra SLi for ~1300$.
Or you could get 8800 GTS (G92) SLi for ~650$.
The GTS should beat the Ultra when overclocked. I'd get the 1024MB version if I were you.

The 8800 Ultra are the best out right now. But they do cost quite a bit at the moment. Sli has a max of two cards right now and they are working in tri-sli
Although if you wanted to go the crossfire route the 3870 are better then the 2900 XT. They take less power make less heat and the 3870 are not as loud as the 2900 XT cards plus they have better performance. Not to mention they cost about half as much as a 2900 XT. If you get one of the newer motherboards the will allow you to have up to three or four cards in cross-fire/quad-fire. With the driver updates from AMD/ATI set to come out in Jan/Feb.
So its your choice on what you want Price and performance wise. I think if you have the money and meet the power requirements go for 8800 Ultra SLI.
If you have not so much cash but still want performance the crossfire is the way to go. Plus you also have options for more cards down the road with the right Motherboard.

The 8800 GTS (G92) is very close to the 8800 Ultra and costs a lot less .
Or you could get two 3870's in CF or two 8800 GT's in CF . It'll be a cheap and fast setup one way or the other .

The 8800 GTS(92) right now is good but since the drivers for it are new it is not that super powerful according to benchmarks it is still a little under a GTX.
I would go for the 3870 in CF or the 8800 GT in SLI. They would cost about as much as 1 ultra.
