PCI slots..

You got your basic PCI slots, PCI Express, and now PCI Express x12. How much longer 'till the standard is for x12? Think PCI Express should be able to do the job for a long while or will its support dwindle like AGP's? Are you PO'd about the emerging technology and possibilities or excited? What sort of new things should we expect from the advent of PCI Express x12? Just trying to rouse from interesting conversation here.. :D Feel free to metion DDR3 as well... (been shopping for a new mobo, can't you tell?;))

PCIe x12 ? Isn't that essentially slower than a PCIe x16 one ( which is pretty standard these days ) or am I missing something ?
