which one you think is a better choice for a gamer pc configuration considering that with the money i can spend those are the better options i have (at least that i think)
1. Nvidia 8800GTS 640mb + AMD Athlon x2 6000 (3.00GHz)
or
2.ATI HD2900 pro 512MB + Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.4GHz)

8800 GT , 280 dollars for a card that performs awfully close to the GTX .

And a 8800 GTS 640MB costs the same as the HD 2900 XT . And the HD 2900 XT is slightly faster .
Anyway , don't bother with the HD 2900 XT/8800 GTS .
The 8800 GT is VERY powerful and it costs 280 dollars only .

do you think that 8800GT is even better than HD 2900pro which costs even less?

8800 GT is ... supprisingly powerful . It outperforms the HD 2900 Pro , hell.. it even outperforms the 8800 GTS and HD 2900 XT .

He's right... and that extra 128mb RAM on the GTS doesn't make much difference at all with such an efficiently designed card.

Another thing to consider with the CPU choice, are you going to overclock?

That card is just clocked high ( 1500 on shaders ) , that's why it's so damn fast .
