I was wondering if it would be better to get the 512mb version just because I'm mostly playing games at a 1680x1050....

thank you :P

It certainly wouldn't hurt. Though the resolution isn't what matters, it's the number and size of the textures in the game that determines how much memory you need.

How big of a price difference are you looking at?

How big of a price difference are you looking at?I have to assume he's looking on newegg, and the price difference there is 149/169 to 259, and it's sure as hell not worth another $100.

I have the same resolution monitor, and I have never really had a problem with games. Occasionally Oblivion @ 4aa/8af and all bars around 1/2 will dip down to 10-15 fps, but that's still pretty good.

Im actually stuck between 4 cards for price/performance...

[ Canadian money ]

SAPPHIRE X1950XT 256MB..........[ 220$ ] USD $210 ( bad deal haha )
SAPPHIRE X1950XT 512MB..........[ 260$ ] USD $250
EVGA 8800GTS 320MB................[ 320$ ] USD $300 ( thats the best Canadian deal out there for a 320mb :(:(:( )
HIS Radeon HD 2900XT 512MB.....[ 455$ ] USD $435

I plan on playing in 1680 x 1050 and Im so lost... I want to play crysis too or similar new gen games when they come out.... not at the highest quality but I want to be playing them at respectable framerates...

Help! hahaha

Do NOT buy an x2900.

At this point, unless you know for a fact what games you want to play and that the x1950 will play them well, just go with the 8800 gts...it's far more future proof...and far less noisy...

The 8800 GTS 320 MB is less noisy , less of a power pig and less of a heater and cheaper than the HD 2900 XT... but the HD 2900 XT is quite a bit faster than the 8800 GTS 320MB . Really , the video card you get , depends on your CPU.
