Hey, I was given a laptop but it came with geforce 6150 integrated. I'm looking for a video upgrade and how to install it once I get it. Right now sky is the limit on pricing since I'm just trying to get acquainted with mobile graphics. Sorry if I should have posted this in troubleshooting, I wasn't sure. Anyway, I'd appreciate advice/info on mobile graphics. Thanks.

You can't upgrade video cards on laptops .
Well you can upgrade it if its from alienware they have some upgrades for videocards but other then that you cant change it.
Your pretty much stuck with wut you buy in it.

You are both wrong - sort of....
There are plenty of laptop/notebook solutions available on the market that have fully independent and upgradable "integrated" graphics....
Eric touched on it a bit - Alienware is one of the vendors that has several options for notebook video.
The questions that need answers are -
Who is the manufacturer of the notebook?
What model is it?
Even if there are/were upgrade parts available, can they be had by the end user or are they only available to the OEMs?
If you can get it, how comfortable are you with dismantling your notebook? On all the different models that I have worked on, the swap varies from remove a panel and a few screws to HOLY CRAP - where did all these parts come from...
I would start with the model and availability....

ok thanks. I'm going to need my laptop for more than gaming so unless I get another computer I guess I'll wait. It's a v6305 presario from hp/compaq and is a good machine except graphics, not that it doesn't run games, but I'd like to not wait 5 minutes to load shaders and textures.
