Hello Gpu fans :)

I have a Vanilla ATI Radeon x700 Pro AGp. For an unknown reason it died on me. tbh dunno what happened, I was playing Enemy Territory, a not demanding game and suddenly the screen goes black ahd hangs up th pc. tried reboot but NO IMAGE TO DISPLAY!!!! . Gpu Fan kept working tough at full speed, summin unusual 'cause it always worked at a decent noise level. Here is the thing:

SOMEtimes it gives me image, but when I start any type of 3D app it just crash. THAT'S IT. 2D apps, work fine. BUT sometimes it just won't boot and the fan keeps spining at full speed. Power dongle, checked; GPU/mobo drivers, checked; PSU rail amps, checked. Unfortunately for me I'm not on guarantee anymore  . PCB looks flawless, no burned circuits, or any other stuff like that.

I wanna keep the Radeon card, buying a new one is kind of a problem 4 me. I'm from a foreign country, and the Gpu's selling here are no best than a Radeon 7500.

Now I'm using a card from NVidia. GeForce 6800GS, I know its better in performance, but I think with ur help and support I can make that Red Girl get back to bussines ^^ .I really need your help ppl. Thxs for everything. B seein' ya!!! :D

Man, I don't think there's too much you can do. It sounds dead to me.

Only chance is fixing the fan or other cooling, but you said it was running at full speed, so I don't think that's the problem.

You could try reinstalling the drivers, but it really sounds like a hardware failure...especially if it happened while you were playing a game.

Its an x700. There is no reason to attempt a repair. Get a new card. You can spend the $$ and time of attempting a repair towards a new card that will offer better performance.

Well well well.... after sum time messin' around with my BFG GeForce6800 GS AGP IT DIED ON ME!!!!!! TWICE!!!!!! FFS!!!!!!!! got it on RMA, then after like 2 moths it DIED ON ME, AGAIN!!!!! OMFG!!! BFG MADE ME SPENT MY TIME, MY MONEY ON THAT POS!!! TWICE!!!! NOW THEY'RE SAYIN' IF I WANT AN RMA I HAVE TO SEND THE CARD BACK!!! ARE THEY NUTS!???

so.... no good GPU to play with :( . Had to go back to an old GeForce4 MX440SE. But then I decided to try and bring Lady Red(Radeon x700 Pro) back into action ;) after a looooooooooong break and a few mins. of testing it came ALIVE!!!! muhahahaha!!!!! but... there's still a lil' detail.... -____- . Everytime the pc boots up (after shutdown only), it won't give me image and the fan keeps spinning like crazy. Sooo... I pressed reset a few times and then BANG!!!! VIDEO!!! ^^ after that, its all good 2 go. I can play normally, except with AA. Dunno y, but everytime I activate AA even on 2x it just wont star the game and locks the pc. hmm.... With AF it's ok, just AA gives me that issue. Well... I think there's summin weird goin' on with the "starter engine" and some capacitors on the Gpu. Anyone here knows how to diagnose/fix this???????

Sounds like an insufficient PSU to me . Maybe your PC doesn't give enough power to your video cards... I've fried more than 1 video card because of that . Change your PSU and get a newer video card ( if the 6800 GS is really broken ) .

hmm.... well, thxs 4 the advise, but the PSU it's not the problem. Its 450W, on the +12V it gives me 21A and the GeForce6800GS required at least 18A, this Radeon it's less powerfull and requires less Ampage (dunno if I spell it ok -___- lol) .:D:D . Besides, I only have 1 HD (ATA-100), 2 optical drives (DVD-ROM & CDRW) P4 @ 2.4 Ghz Northwood FSB533, 1 GB Corsair ValueRam PC-2700. So, this PSU is more than enough 4 this system.

Well that sounds like a faulty PSU , I simply cannot think of anything else currently . What are the odds of both cards failing . Unless you're OCing them that is .
