Do you need a D-Sub connection? (ie are you running old, not DVI connections that are likely blue to your monitor)

What resolution does your monitor run or what do you run it at?

I'm going to suggest:

'Cuz it's fair and it's cheap.

EDIT: I dont think ur PSU is enough for these cards..

Alright, its like this:

X800GTO - Has at least a somewhat good chance of unlocking to 16, making it about as good as the 7900 GS with an overclock. Dosent have SM3.0. Has more memory bandwidth than the 7600 GT.

X800XL (=7800 GS) - Already unlocked, but more expensive and not available anymore. 7900 GS power with no risk of not being able to overclock. Same SM3.0 issue. Has more memory bandwidth than the 7600 GT.

7600GT - It's core is as strong as the X800XL, but it has half the memory bandwidth. Does have SM3.0. Overclocked it will almost get to 7900 GS.

*Memory bandwidth is good for Anti-Aliasing, larger textures and higher resolutions.

Alright, well the 7600 GT would be best if only it had more memory bandwidth. So the true winner is the X800GTO, but thats only if it will unlock.
However, u can find the 7800 GS for 160$ and the 7800 GS is the exact same card as the X800XL EXCEPT that it has SM3.0 just like the 7600 GT.

There is a problem with AGP cards now adays and u can only find them in limited numbers at high costs:

X800GTO - 140$
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102042&ATT=14-102-042&CMP=AFC-C8Junction
7600 GT - 180$
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150210&ATT=14-150-210&CMP=AFC-C8Junction
7800 GS - 160$
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143046

There is however one more card, wich I think is good.

X1950 Pro - Even if u were to unlock the X800GTO and overclock it as high as it will go, this card would STILL be twice as good, wich means that its twice as good as the X800XL and the 7800GS, both overclocked. It has SM3.0 and everything.

Usually u cant find the X1950 Pro AGP for less than 300$, but right now its available for 220$ and is by far the best deal.

Whats your budget? And have you considered buying a new pc? You could get a pretty good core 2 pc for 500 and since ya already have a monitor you save money. But if you want just a gpu i say the 7600gt since it is the best and has the newest technology.

Thats what i thought at first, but the X1950 Pro and the 7800 GS are a better value.

Not the 7800gs, Not worth it, Maybe if it was clocked higher but now no.

The 7800 GS is the exact same card as the X800XL. If u OC it, it becomes better than the 7600 GT wich actually costs more on AGP.

Look at the compare page and what do ya see? Thats right the 7600gt is better then the 7800gs at stock.

Still no. The 7600 GT has half the memory bandwidth.

But in any case, their core will end up equaly as powerfull since the 7600 GT is 90nm but 12 pipes and the 7800 GS is 110nm but 16 pipes.

Thus the 7800 GS is superior.

Track Memory bandwith does'nt matter that much for budget users. The 7600gt is just as good as the 7800gs in most games.

Are u kidding? He has a 24" widescreen. At 1920x1200 ur going to need a hell of a lot of memory and memory bandwidth.
Not to mention that him having such a high-end monitor means that he is no budget user and would indeed be likely to use AA and AF and most of all - high resolution textures, wich would benefit greatly or even could not work without a significant ammount of memory bandwidth.
Dare i say the memory bandiwdth would bottleneck a 1920x1200 display?

Not only that, but the 7800 GS is cheaper. And if overclocked will be graphically superior to the 7600 GT aswell.
