It's weird because I could get a x1950XT for cheaper than the 7950GT but yet I think the x1950XT is better... I would like to know which card should I buy as my budget is growing fast and because I cancelled my order for my x1950pro cause it was on backorder. :P

My budget $200 to $350.
Thank you Mike and Track especially :P My friend Thomas and I are now video card freaks and can't choose a card because we always want more :P

The X1950XT is cheaper.
The X1950XT is much better.

The X1950XT is a good choice if u cant wait for DX10.

Dude if your budget is up to 350$ then buy an 8800gts 32mb when they come out in a week or two. If ya worried that your cpu might bottle neck it dont my e6400 is said to be a bottleneck but funny i dont see any slowdown.(And Core 2 duo are prices are set to drop in march)

David, did u buy the Zalman CNPS 9500/9700 like i told u?

I agree that it's probably a good time to wait. Or at least buy the card from somewhere that makes it relatively painless to return it if something much better comes out in the next couple of weeks. Now is not the time to be investing $300+ in an ATi card.

No i'm using the step up program to get an 8900gts when they come out and i dont wanna void my warranty.

The 9500 is for the CPU.

The 8900 wont be out in 3 months.

Of course not, but im guessing so. No x9xx card has been released 3 months after an x8xx card. The closest one was the X1900 wich was 5 months.

The 7900GTX 512 came out shortly after the x1800xt. The 7900gtx came out shortly after the x1900xt. So why wouldn't you expect the 8900gtx to come out immediately after R600?

Bad guess.

The 7900 GTX came out 2 months after the X1900 because the 7800 GTX 512 had been out for 5 months. Im talking about cards from the same company.

The X2800 will be released 5 months after the 8800, so it would be possible for the 8900 to be out 4 months after the X2800 (just like with the X1900, wich was released 4 months after the 7800 GTX 512).

Believe me, the 8900 GTX being released before March would make my year.

The 7900 GTX came out a little over 1 month after the x1900. At that point the 7800 GTX 512 had been out for 4 months, not 5.

It's possible for the 8900 to come out tomorrow. You have absolutely no idea.

The X1900 was released 2 months after the 7800 gtx 512, not 4.

March is a little over a month away. Even if R600 comes out at the very end of the month, if the 8900gtx came out a month later, that would still be approximately 3 months from now.

Stop making statements you can't back up.

Alright cool. Sorry abt the dates.. i wasnt here at the time.

So the 7800 GTX 512 was released 1 month after the X1800.

So the 8800 GTX 1024 or the 8900 GTX could be released 1 month after the R600, wich will be at the very least the begging of April.

Since David bought his card over a month ago, he wont be able to buy the 8900, unfourtunetely.

Yeah mid-april seems likely. But it's just a guess...

Note that I do have release dates for most cards on their card pages...makes thinking about these things a lot easier when you can see the actual date it happened instead of just trying to remember.

Nov 8 to Feb 4 is my trade up time and I keep hearing that the 8900's will be release at The beginning of February. So I'm hoping and praying to god that it gets released The 3rd.

If i'm wrong i wont care since the 8800 will drop significantly and buy another one and a 650i sli mobo for 100$(Which i will buy forom my friend when he gets his knew RD600 and R600's in crossfire) It's in good condition So either way i win. :D

Just make sure the 650i SLi motherboard supports SLi with BOTH slots at x16, and not x8, because the 8800s do not like x8.

Youre going to upgrade from an E6400 to an E6650?

You know they are the exact same thing right? And that they can be overclocked to the exact same clock speed?

Its like buying the X1900XTX over the X1900XT - completely insane.

Yeah, at the very least you should wait until the next generation is out so the prices for the current generation that you're looking at will be lower. If you really don't care about the money or the performance, then go ahead and buy whatever... but you probably wouldn't be here if you didn't care. (c:

If you're an ATi fanboy, wait; if you don't care about brand, just grab an 8800 card.

Nope the E6400 is 2.13ghz, 1066mhz bus, and a 2mb shared cache
But the E6650(When it comes out in the summer) Comes with 2.4ghz, 1333 bus, and an 8mb cache for the same price as the current e6400. And i dont wanna oc when i dont need to.

Oh boy.. When someone says "I dont wanna OC" Thats when u know theres a problem.

Ill start off by saying that ANY Core 2 Duo @ 2.13Ghz is the same as @ 2.4Ghz. The difference is LESS than 3 frames in 1024x768. With the 8800 GTS it will be 1 FPS or less.

Secondly, the FSB is just a gimic. Its like buying an overclocked graphics card - ur paying for THEM to overclock it for u when u can do it in 1 minute, AND most importantly they can ALL overclock to the EXACT same speed, so them overclocking the FSB to 1333Mhz is completely worthless.

Thirdly, The E6650 does NOT have 8 MB. It has 4MB just like the E6600.
The ONLY thing the E6650 has over the E6600 is the FSB, wich we have already claimed is worthless.

Fourthly, and most importantly - The E6650 is WORSE than the E6600. The E6650 has an 8x multiplier, so its just like the E6400. Not to mention the E6650 is only 2.33Ghz and the E6600 is 2.4Ghz.

So they are actually selling u a WORSE CPU for more.. wow.

Now the E4400 is where its at. It costs 130$ and if u overclock the FSB to 1066Mhz u get an E6700 for just 130$. It has 2MB of cache, but that dosent matter much becuse if u overclock the FSB to 1333Mhz it will already be more powerfull than the X6800 in EVERYTHING.

The only reason to wait is for the X2800, wich will be released in over a month.

And by then, the price of the 8800 GTS will have gotten to where u want it - 400$, so u will buy the 8800 GTS anyway.

So its best to buy it now for 480$.

How many Core2 Duo's have you personally overclocked?

And, once again, not everyone on the face of the planet is dying to overclock their cpu, most people buy them, and just leave them at stock speed.

You dont need anyone to stand up for u. I'm not attacking u am i? :(

The difference beetween the E6650 and the E6400 is about 2% in games.

When i see them side to side no comparison the 360 wins.

The CPU has nothing to do with online play. The CPU isnt going to work any harder in Online play. The ONLY thing u need for HOSTING an online game is a fast upload connection. Thats it.

Also, u will NOT get any more than a 5% increase in ANYTHING. That 4MB of cache is not very important and if u overclock 100Mhz above the E6650 ur performance will be higher with the 2MB still.

What does that mean? Save you money? Ya got some friends in intel that i dont know about?

I mean that if u send me the CPU ill be saving 500$ buying it.

Red Alert 2 is BGE (Best Game Ever). I play it, and the expansion pack every year or more, with skirmishes every week or so on the weekend. RTSs have endless replay value.
