View Full Version : Is SLI the default setting for a 30" Dell?

I'm deciding on either a 24" Dell (or + 2" Acer 26" that has the same resolution) but then I'm thinking "WTH" maybe just go with the 30" Dell.

Now I realize I'll need more powerful video card to run the higher resolution, but my question is how big of a set-up is the 30" from the 24". I was hoping one 8800 GTX or GTS would take care of the situation. Although no doubt more GPU intensive programs will be released which always forces me to have a high end card set-up (a trap I'm not sure I want to fall into)

A single 8800 GTX should be fine with current games. For future DX10 games, SLI would be favorable, and even more so if u want to run higher AA (even though u dont really need to at that high of a resolution)

A 30" monitor is quite larger than a 24" monitor.. On a 24" ud want to run 1600x1200 and on a 30" u would have to run at least 2048x1536.
Personally, i think 30" is too big - there is a limit. You want a monitor to be big because then it is more immersive and fun and play games, but if its too big, to the extent that u cannot see one end of the screen from the other, then thats going too far.
Ive never even seen a 30" monitor, but thats how it seems to me. Youre going to have to see this one out for urself.
