They are both equally stable.
The 8800 GTX is 40% more powerfull.

You shouldnt buy th 7950 GX2 though. If u want a card wich is less powerfull than the 8800 GTX, choose the 8800 GTS. The 8800 GTS is abt as powerfull as the 7950 GX2, except it costs less and performs better.. not to mention its DX10 compatible.

Best, as in most powerfull? Thats the 8800 GTX.
Best, as in the best performance for the money.. 8800 GTS/8800 GTX.
You may want to wait for the 8900 GTX or the X2800XT.

yeah, the 8800 series owns everything from the 7 series.
with later drivers, I dont even see two 7950GX2s (thats four G71s) standing a chance, in any benchmark, against a single 8800GTX. As for two 7950GX2s against an 8800GTS well, that has yet to be seen properly, but i betcha itl be pretty close.
Anywho, sounds like your looking for the ultimate graphics card. If you are, get an 8800GTX. you wont be unsatisfied.
course ATi will shortly have another option, the X2800 or X2700 or w/e they call it.

The 8800 GTS can barely beat a single 7950 GX2. The only reason that Quad-SLi is meaningless is because of drivers - nVidia COMPLETELY let down anyone who bought their hardware.
