Well, its not PCI-E 2.0. :(

The only thing that that article has to offer us, who already know the G80 specs, is the look of the cooler. But that cooler looks like the black one that no one liked.. just with a picture from G.R.A.W.
It looks like the Peltiar cooler for the X1950 Pro, and it surely dosent look better than the 7900 GTX's cooler.
I keep thinking the 7 and X1K series, are the best, and that i was lucky to start being interested in graphics cards in 2006 (praise Mike). This is cool.

I've read that this will take up two expansion slots also but will only use 1 PCI-E slot right?

My Antec Neo He has two PCI-E express cords (for SLI) so I should still be able to use this as a single card in the Gigabyte DS3 right?

Yes I am a noob.....lol.

Yes, this card will absolutely fit in a single PCI-E slot on your DS3.

Have you seen any announcements on the availability of the 8800 GT (or whatever the second best version will be called)?

The 8800 GTS will be available to key ppl in the business and to reviewers this week. The retail launch will be in the middle of Novermber.

Nice. I notice the 8800 GTX is $650. Hopefully the GTS will be significantly cheaper ($400??).

I have a hard time bringing myself to pay $400 for a video card but if it lets me use a Dell 24" LCD (for BF 2142 and oblivion) I may bite.

EDIT: I found the specs here http://www.megagames.com/news/html/hardware/nvidiagf8800gtxgtsspecs.shtml

It looks like the GTS will have less pipelines also rather than simply lower clocks.

If u pay 650$ u will get 650$ worth of performance.
If u pay 500$ (alleged price of the 8800 GTS) u will get 500$ worth of performance.

Logically, 7950 GX2 = 8800 GTS. This makes sence, inlight of the new benchmarks that determain that the 8800 GTX is almost equal to 2x X1950XTX. So the 7950 GX2 is like 2x 7900 GTX (if overclocked slightly) and the 8800 GTS should be almost equal to 2x 7900 GTX if the 8800 GTX is almost equal to 2x X1950XTX.

Slower memory, less pipelines, less RAM.. 8800 GTS seems to be radically weaker than the 8800 GTX, but for 150$ that makes sence. And 150$ at those high prices, wher 20$ could mean 10 FPS more at a high resolution.

Yeah definitely it seems much weaker. I was hoping for more of a 7900 GT/GTO to 7900 GTX relationship where they were closer together and then you could just overclock.

Well nVidia isnt stupid, but they are also not very nice.
If u pay 500$ u will get what u paid for. And remmember that the difference beetween 500$ and 600$ is like the difference beetween 200$ and 400$.
Just like when u have to decide how many scoops of Ice Cream to buy - for every editional scoop the price will drop, so while the first will cost 1$, the 4th will cost 0.5$ of less, wich meets ppl's needs. You arent going to buy many scoops if they all cost the same, and u will be tempted to spend another 0.5$ for another scoop because its much cheaper than the first one, thats how they get u to buy more.
So u say "im spending 500$, why not spend a little more".

Oh, and 7900 GTO = 7900 GTX, but the 7900 GTO costs less. A few manufacturers make the "GTO" type card at the end of the generation to sell whatever they have left of the cores.
Mike says that nVidia knows of this and approves, and that it is not done without their knowledge.
